Where were the blue flags? Where were the organizers if this happened every session?
It looked like a lot of clueless drivers, not just the one you are complaining about.

sorry to be clear, a friend’s video, not mine. it was a very weird event. no blue flags, happened for one more session until the spec racer was asked to leave.

Drifting
That spec ford racer at 330ish looks like he purposely is a douche to give himself a clean half lap. I can't think of any other reason why he would slow down and yet not let your friend by. I was about ready to semi excuse him just because of how many cars were delaying allowing people by until then because technically he was stuck in traffic himself for a lot of that and perhaps wasn't fully aware if your car was actually faster or not, plus it's usually a good rule the first car in the conga line passes first rather than letting 3rd position pass 2nd and all that.

Put him and the event organizers in the woodchipper

Three Wheelin'
That's pretty poor, even less excusable in an advanced group. Good the event organizers asked the guy to leave.

Burning Brakes
Cool looking cars on the track though...

If the driver was wearing all the required gear, he had on arm restraints, making it almost impossible to do a point-by, or at least one that anyone would see. That certainly doesn't excuse the behavior.
NASA Norcal has an active dislike for the point-by, so they don't use it. Doesn't seem to affect the safety of the event, and there's far less whining.

As someone who has worn arm restraints in an open car, there is always a way, e.g. use your right hand instead of the "over the roof" style signal. And wear a very visible color of gloves.
Not much of an excuse IMO

I was passed twice this past weekend at LRP by a much faster vintage convertible Jaguar XKE. Both times he thanked me with a small wave even though he was wearing restraints.

we're at lrp I would have introduced myself as the guy with the problem with point bys.
Spent many laps giving point by's with the TA cars.
Hope you did well.

I drove my Cup with IGT and my 911Cup with SVRA. I only got to finish 3 out of 5 races due to a mechanical with my air-cooled and some a$$hattery with a couple of the other IGT drivers.
The highlight of the weekend was the Venezualen BBQ truck overlooking no name called Vara's Racing BBQ! Great weather as well!

IGT is not for me, too many Cowboys for a 15-minute race. I missed the BBQ truck, that would have made my day. Great event with great weather and the flyover was a bonus.
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.....

experience and muscle their way up the ranks at warp speed. Last Chin Track Day I did, every session over two days but two was blackflagged early on because these clowns were driving way faster than they know how to.

In theory, the fast car & slow car groups for advanced drivers is a good idea. In practice, what typically happens are the slow advanced drivers in fast cars end up in the slow car group. That’ wouldn’t be an issue if slower drivers in fast cars were good at giving a point and lifting. I’ve been at events where I’ve lapped GT4’s in my MX-5 Cup.
