Anyone contemplating LCMT, keep in mind that they now have a very strictly enforced 92db sound rule … no exceptions, if you
don’t pass sound check, pack it up and go home !
Lots of people found out the hard way at the Fall Classic last year and the Spring Classic two weeks ago.
Cheers

I suspect that it would - assuming you have a full intact exhaust, it also would not hurt to have down-turns installed.

They were taking sound measurements under/in the tunnel where the sound reverberated back to the gun. Maybe the stock 996 is lower?
Just make sure before you make that long trek up there. That’s the only advice I have for sound. Please make sure. 92db isn’t all that loud in the grand scheme of things.

Hi Dgrobs,
This is interesting as turbos are generally quieter than the NA cars - the turbos provide some additional muffling. This makes me wonder what exhaust these guys were running. My car had no trouble passing, but I was running a European cup car system, which had pre-mufflers as part of the package. There were a number of 6GT3's that were there with no apparent problems.

It almost seemed like there was no rhyme or reason as to why some cars were black flagged off for sound and some weren’t.
How can you measure db’s at home before you leave for Tremblant? Can you take it to a shop to measure sound? Sorry if that’s a stoopid question. Just remember how the guys who got flagged for noise level felt when they made that long trek and couldn’t run for the 3 days. Thanks

A 6-gt3 has no secondary exhaust and sounds like an ev on the track. Im 99% sure it will pass but its your trip and your $ so try to get it checked.

We have had numerous variant Gt3s fail sound check.
We've had a 128i race car with resonator and stock muffler... fail. It required a turn-down to pass.
It's one of the best tracks in North America and well worth the visit but you need to prepare with either an extra muffler and/or at least turn down(s).

IIRC, they always seemed to have the db gun right under the tunnel where the sound is the loudest as it’s somewhat enclosed.
Really too bad as the track itself and the surrounding area is as good as it gets, especially for families accompanying the driver.
Shame that this is happening, but seems to be the norm at tracks that the town no longer wants around. Has killed more than just a couple of tracks. Guess you can’t please everyone. Follow the money….

Thanks all. Does anyone know where to get turn down pipes in the Toronto area?
My mechanic doesn't have a device for measuring Db nor does the dealer. Is there a reliable way to check Db levels myself?

Any muffler shop or competent race shop can fabricate turn downs for you. You just need to measure the OD or ID of your tail pipe and fabricate slip-ons or slip-ins with an external clamp.
