Hi Peter,
My entries to Rolex and Rennsport were not accepted, so I'm never sure who will take my RSR. Too bad because it's more accurate than most of the RSRs running. Canepa and PCA did offer me an entry at Rennsport for the Thursday-Friday club races, but I declined. Seemed like a big effort for little run time and a lot of standing around Saturday and Sunday.
The RSR did get accepted at the Road America Weather Tech Challenge and won it's class (Porsche) at the Friday night car show in Elkhart Lake. For racing... I missed qualifying and started last in 32nd and finished 19th.
I visited Lime Rock ten years ago and it looked great, so much better than when we raced there in the '70s. Would love to drive my RSR there again.
George

That's odd. But Lime Rock would be glad to have your car, and more importantly, you! The old track was so bumpy and such a washboard that you'd have to drive down the middle of the pit straight, since the two repavings, it's a LOT better.

Sorry to hear that you didn’t get an entry to Rennsport George, I would have LOVED to see your car. If you decide to still attend it would be amazing to meet up with you. My dad and I are going to be at RR7 in an RV trackside looking up into the corckscrew, you are welcome to join us!

Awesome videos Mike and a really great weekend! My goal is to drive well enough so that I can make it into one of your videos (not being lapped).

Question. Would like to buy a Porsche race car that could be ran in Rennsport int he future but also has a lot of racing out there to do. If you were buying a car today, what would you buy for this?

If you want an entry to Rennsport the car has to have excellent history. Prepare your budget accordingly.
Gooding still has a '75 RSR for sale that includes a Rennsport 7 entry. https://www.goodingco.com/lot/1975-p...arrera-30-rsr/

I assumed that he was referring to the PCA Club Racing run group, the Scholar Friedman Cup.

Aircooled 3.0 or 3.2 for 911 CUP (naturally). It's the biggest class represented at Rennsport, and one of the largest classes in PCA. And the most fun cars out there!

OK, maybe I should have been a little more descriptive. I'm not looking for a 7 figure race car. I'm looking for something that could perhaps get into a race at Rennsport (not this year, but future). More looking for something that could be raced in PCA where there is a good group, not just 2-3 cars. Sounds like 911 Cup with 3.0-3.2 is probably what Im looking for. Who builds them or where do I find them for sale? I know Accumoto is out there, but anyone else? Thanks

Given the price of air-cooled street cars, I do not think people are still converting them into race cars. Accumoto has been sold to Kelly Moss and I do not think they still build new air-cooled race cars. You would likely be limited to buying an existing race car. SPB (Spec Boxster) and SP3 (944) are also large groups at the Sholar Friedman Cup.

With respect to racing "in PCA where there is a good group, not 2 - 3 cars", I really depends on which races you are planning to attend. Race results are available online, so it is easy to find out which classes are popular at specific tracks.
