Default Carolinas Challenge 2023 - PCA Club Race at CMP

YOUR RACING SEASON IS NOT OVER!!!!
Don't put that car away just yet - come on down to the Carolinas and drive one more race!
For those that haven't been in years - the new ownership of CMP have really done a nice job upgrading the facility - new pavement (2021), updated bathrooms, new RV parking spaces with power, water and sewer, better power options throughout the paddock, a dog park (yes, seriously!!), better, new and nicer fuel pumps with reasonable prices (actually lower than at gas stations in the Northeast!).

Plus for the race:
Friday Night social hosted by us NaroEscape Motorsports - free drinks and snacks
Saturday dinner/awards and a live band
Vintage Group Races
and your standard Friday practice/qualifying, Saturday sprints, Sunday enduro schedule

There is also and advanced/solo DE group, so bring your friends, family and anyone else that wants to come and drive.

For those that HAVEN'T driven CMP - its a very fun and challenging track. IMSA and NASCAR teams uses it regularly for road course testing because it has a bit of everything. And honestly I think it makes a GREAT race track since there are tons of passing opportunities.

So that's my plug. Come down and have fun!!

And if anyone is coming from NJ and has room on their transporter, let me know, My Dad wants to buy a car in Wayne and needs to get it down here.

Looking forward to the weekend and hoping not to get the corner worker "Hard Luck" award this year.

I hate to see the poor attendance. I'm guessing that in a few years we will have a greatly decreased racing schedule, visiting only the bigger venues that tend to draw larger fields.

That did not save the Daytona race.

I can tell you in my situation........this year's schedule with back to back race weekends was brutal. Would love to have added this one to the list, but with Eagles Canyon literally the weekend before. So tough......

I understand, I did ECR and CMP back-to-back last year and it was difficult. Given that I have kids and grandkids near CMP, and that ECR has two races/year, the choice was easy.

Agreed with family. We had Hastings and Eagles 1, back to back weekends......as well as Brainerd and High Plains back to back weekends this year. Ugh..........

And last year’s ECR S show probably made the decision easier, also.

Unfortunately with the low turnout it might be hard for the race staff to justify to the board to run this race again...ever.
We all really hoped new pavement and a slightly earlier date would help, but guess not. Sad....its not only our local track but IMO is a great track to race on. Lots of passing and close racing opportunities.

I was there last year and it was a fun track with some good racing. If I didn't have a wedding to attend I would have been there.

It would be a shame if the race went away. Where are all the racers who live in the area?

Carolinas Region doesn't have a ton of racers, and I think all of them have signed up!
we're working on it, but its not the same as in the NE....more laid back group, less competitive in general...
