Default AMB Question

I've had this AMB transponder on one of my cars for about 5 years with no problem. The last time I was out it didn't register laps. The green power light is on.
The transponder is not registered to me and I'm trying to pin down who it's registered to from the past few owners.
Questions:
1). Does this transponder have a lifetime use without subscription ?
2). How does one go about transferring ownership? It's not clear to me from the mylaps site.

Yes, AFAIK, lifetime no subscription required.

Because no subscription required, go to the Timing and Scoring person next event and "associate" that transponder number with your name and car number. Should be all that is required.

Speedhive should be updated with your info after they upload that information.

I should have pointed out that it is registered at MMC where the car is mainly driven. It's worked for years with no problem. Maybe they deleted my car???
Time for Qatar!

Registering a used transponder -

If the battery is dying there are a few places that will replace it, or convert it to direct wired. I/O Port is one I found from a quick search.

You can just email Mylaps and they will register it in your name.

As long as the organization that you run with can associate the transponder number with you for a particular event, there is no need to change registration with Mylaps. If the transponder number does not register with the organization that you run with, it’s broken.

Thanks guys. Maybe I shouldn't worry about transferring it. I just have to figure out why my transponder wasn't showing up last time out. I'll check with the register and see if they accidentally deleted my number.

Most tech inspectors have a device to check signal strength on the transponder.

At home you can check the signal strength of a transponder with an AM radio set to a non-working frequency band i.e.all you hear is static. A working transponder will cause audible interference when the radio is brought near it. Not the most precise test, but could be informative if you are able to compare results from a known working transponder.

Look up East Coast Transponders. They are the closest repair place near us and can help. They do a ton of battery units like yours.

It’s wired to power. Is there also a battery?

Sorry, I saw the clip and thought it was a battery unit. I don't think the powered one has a battery but I don't know.

Ahhhh. I found an AM radio and it works like a charm. So, it seems my transponder works but just didn't pick up that one day. Thank you!
