Seat Expiration Dates

The 2023 dated seats (exp 2028) are good through the end of 2028. The 2024 dated seats by rule cannot start shipping to the distributors until Jan1 2024.
When we have left over seats from the previous year, once the current year seats start arriving, we will then separate out the seats manufacturered the previous year and offer them at special pricing. When new seats come out, often times they do go up in price. And as Bob said, oftentimes there are delays in the distributors receiving the current year seats.

I have a similar question. I need new seats and belts. I would like to purchase them with the latest effective dates as possible. Would any of our Rennlist contributors who are in this business comment on how the date system works? I realize it's a loaded question as you would prefer that consumers buy now, but I don't want to give up an extra year if I don't have to. Thank you!

Only SFI belts can be rewebbed… and even then most manufacturers won’t do it any longer. FIA are 5 years plus the year of manufacture so depending on when you get them, they could be good for 6 years.
For example, all new belts sold in 2023 expire the end of 2028.

Does anyone know why the Recaro P1300 seat in my 991.2 Cup is rated for 10 years instead of the usual 5?
Bob Saville, does this tie to your wear and tear idea and what parts would be more durable? Thanks!

Hi Ted- I looked at the technical difference between your part number (10 year seat) and the lower cost version (5 year version). The primary difference is the FIA homologation certification. Your seat is certified as an Advanced Race Seat. (8862-2009) That is different than the 5 year Competition Race Seat (8855-1999) 8862 has higher testing requirements for G-forces. I found this: https://track-first.com/fia-seat-sta...up%20to%2070Gs.

Don:
Thanks for looking this info up. 70G’s versus 20 is a huge difference. Let’s hope that the cost of these 10 year seats declines with increasing production tied to more series requiring. Now, back to the F1 race.
