Default Shopping for a race car communication System

Any pointers, brands recommended or to be avoided, assume you would go with digital Vs analog
TIA,
Phil

I've got a pair of nearly brand new Kenwood digital radios I no longer need. Will make a great deal.

Get a digital enabled system. It will support analog and the much superior digital. You will likely want to configure it for several channels and possible scan with race control.
You can use a handheld in the car, but the in dash units are much more powerful. Makes a difference.

otorola CP200D for handheld, CM300D for in dash.

I am partial to the Motorola CM300D, but all VHF will talk to each-other. It’s just coding.

CM200D has limited number of channels. CM300D is infinitely more flexible.

To program it well, create voice files so that instead of clicking to "channel XX" and trying to remember what that is, you see on screen and hear "Bozo Team 1", "Bozo Team2" etc..

Also, place the antenna as high as possible in or on the car

I would check out Claykos system. If I didn't buy new ones right before he posted his for sale, I would have been on them. It's a value for digital radios.

These are the radios I have. https://rennlist.com/forums/racing-a...-for-sale.html

I'd sell the Kenwoods for $425 shipped.

That's a solid deal. You can get the rest of the car side stuff pretty cheap now too. I can help someone with links if they need it.
