Default VIR Club Race Update

Registrations for the 22-24MAR PCA Club Race at VIR are going strong - except for the Vintage Group. This is just a heads up, but we are considering making a dramatic change to the plan and replacing the Vintage race group with an HPDE group. We realize any late decision could impact several groups including the Vintage Group, potentially the 911Cup group and the DE drivers who are not prepared for track day at the end of MAR. We need to make a decision that best supports the viability of the race at least breaking even.

No decisions have been made but stay tuned!

In what way would the 911CUP group be affected?

If there aren't enough older Vintage cars to fill the Silver run group, the plan would be to include the 911Cup cars in the Silver group. That caveat was including in the registration announcement.

A few of us from Long Island were disappointed that there was no advanced DE for this years event! I can guarantee three if there is a change! Looking forward to it!

I believe 911Cup was mixed with the other vintage cars because there are clearly non-911Cup cars in my video from last year.

I'm OK so long as we don't get mixed in with the SPBs. Those guys are animals!

I want people to know how it's actually pronounced.

Last year there were 10 CUPs and 7 vintage cars - all running together in the Silver rungroup. (I expect we'll be closer to 15 CUPs this year).

I personally find SP3 and SPB to be the best pairing for CUP; both those classes have their own in-class battles going on and understand that we're not racing one another.

This pairing with vintage in Silver, however, would only be for practice/quali and the Sprints ... since we run an enduro on Sunday, and vintage doesn't.

I'm OK driving with SPBs so long as they are not teal.

At NJMP it was both along with a good portion of the cars in our race group as well.

Maybe we can hear from the people he didn't hit. It might be a shorter list.

Breaking news! We have decided to add an HPDE run group to the VIR Club Race!! With the numbers of registrations it just makes sense. Please check on motorsportreg.com - but it will take a day or so to update the site. You can expect track sessions on both FRI and SAT with an extended block of 3+ hours on SUN after the enduro races are over.

Please spread the word and sorry for the late notice. I hope this is great news for the DE drivers to take advantage of driving on the best track east of the Mississippi. Maybe on both sides of the river.

See you at VIR!
