The newer cars are soooooo fast. Incredible performance!
And basically useless for the street. Can't even approach the limits there, need to take them to the track for that.
But... they're also really heavy, and other than a stiff structure, 3 points and airbags, have no real safety equipment.
As those pix show, when bad things happen they might be real bad.

"Driver not injured but taken to the hospital...'
Pretty lucky.
He was very lucky. But reality is that car was designed and built to win Cars and Coffee? Typical buyer wanting it for a Garage Queen (nothing wrong with that).
As I get older I often think I should have very slow track toys and strive to push them to the limits of their tiny *****. That thinking fails when I sit in my RS.

I've had the same conversation with myself.

Newer car = more safety but more likely to have a high speed incident

Older car - less safety but more likely to have a lower speed incident

I don't know if there is an advantage either way.

Flat spotting 2 sets of Hoosiers in one day is WAY cheaper then Pirellis

Note the crush in that roof!
If it had been on the other side, RIP.
People do it all the time, but I'm not a fan of running a car with no cage.
Things happen....

P. Long spoke at our PCA club meeting recently and was relating about his back problems from all those years of hitting Kerbs and now playing with his kid.
His wife & kid is part of the equation now.
Hope to see him being well at the upcoming Air & Water show in SoCal.

I've been doing just that since Day 1 and enjoying every minute of it (except the rare occasions when I get held up ). Never had an RS or anything like it to ruin everything.

If that car got away from PL on a track what happens when a nitwit is driving it on the street?

Unverified third hand information …but apparently he lost brakes going in to Corkscrew. That makes more sense to me…most Pros are very aware of the limits of these types of cars in terms of both their safety and performance
