New rule proposal: Thursday is mandatory day of rest... no car prep, no rushing around "getting ready"...
After the vir race, I already decided, personally, to implement the day of rest rule... but let's make it official 😀

Luigi, really sorry to read about the situation and I hope you are heard and get a resolution that will help the entire racing community, and better the PCA racing community!

As someone who deals with sleep apnea on almost a daily basis, it's a serious disease and can have very serious consequences. That being said, the suggestion of someone falling asleep during a race is laughable. I would be much more worried about the decreased reaction time of the hung over guy racing next to me. Let's ban drinking at PCA races. Heck, let's make it a rule that only 18 year old olympic athletes can compete. As many others have said, no wonder attendance is down.

Three Wheelin'
I thought the same. Seeking to avoid liability by deferring to a commonly accepted standard. Too bad they've chosen an irrelevant one ...

Maybe we should start a write in campaign? Email the president, VP, and the rest of the EC, Zone Reps ( who are supposed to have the power), and the Club Racing Chair.

I will say that the president and club race chair are now actively trying to find a resolution. That doesn't mean it will happen, or happen soon, but I believe they are trying.
There have been a lot of other people helping with this and I am grateful to everyone.
Everyone, except the medical committee, agrees that using DOT truck driver standards doesn't make sense.

Anyone who has had a negative experience with the medical committee should make their issue known to PCA leadership, especially the PCA president and race chair.

Wouldnt statistics on how many people on a CPAP machine with a current race license and how many people have actually fallen asleep during a race be a starting point? What could the actual numbers be? Ive been involved in this sport for 25 years in various series and have never heard of 1 person who fell asleep during a race, TT or HPDE.
