Default WGI

Gents,

I'll be at WGI with SCCA in early June. Can you guys give me some tips on "wife approved" hotel lodging near WGI? I have only raced there once a dozen years ago and can't remember the area. I'm not opposed to a VRBO but they can be hit and miss. Personally I would love to be at a place on the water where I can fish when I'm not on track. Thanks guys!

Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel is a really great experience.

If you want a great B&B experience try the Idlwilde Inn which is up the hill across from the Harbor Hotel. Marcus, the innkeeper, is a great guy.

Glenora Winery was always nice in the past, but I haven't stayed there in a long time.

What car are you racing? I’m going to be there on Sunday and would be great to have someone to cheer for

Harbor Hotel or Lakeside Cabins (down the hill (31-3x), quiet and great views, but needs a car to get into town to walk the shops.

Thank you gents! Looks like lots of votes for the harbor hotel. Pardon my ignorance! Harbor is $350+/nt and Hampton by Hilton 250+/nt. Room pics look about the same with maybe the win going to Hampton. For the extra $100/nt what makes the Harbor hotel the place to be? Is the onsite restaurants better or the atmosphere? Or just being the whole length of the lake closer to the track?

Harbor Hotel sits on Lake Seneca and the views are awesome. Worth an extra $100 in my mind.

There is also a good bar and decent restaurant. If the weather is nice you can sit outside and enjoy the view or sit by the fire pit.

You said you wanted something special for your wife? What wife ever said "thanks for taking me to the Hampton Inn?"

Also did not realize how long that lake is. It is quite a drive.

Wouldn't it be easier in a boat?

Harbor Hotel restaurant is decent
You must eat at the Seneca Lodge and order a Group 52 margarita!
Seneca Harbor Station - right next door to Harbor Hotel
Holy Cow Deli for sandwiches
