Porsche is selling parts, tools and manuals for rebuilding the 986 & 996 engines. What they aren't selling are transmission parts for the 996 but gearbox internals for the 986 are available.

993 - $18196.14
996TT - $20741.10 (short block)
GT3 - $26531.50
CGT - $79872.79

prices were current as of 3/02/06 from Pelican Parts, several of the mail-order Porsche dealers sell these for significantly less.

on a 993, it's typically only the top end you need to redo so it would be overkill to get a longblock IMHO

Yeah, but if you race a 996 and when needed can slap in one of those new puppies for $7951, how can you go wrong? You can hardly even freshen a 3.6 air cooled motor for that price.

...I know I'd upgrade to a 996 engine in my boxster for sure if mine went boom.. only problem is you have to get the 996 ECU for it then...

Thanks for the price list Jason. Any idea what the core charges are on those motors?
