Yes, if Frank was concerned about information he posted, he could delete HIS posts that contain the personal information.

You are attributing intelligent, rational thought to a guy whose hair is orange & who did not finish high school.

Yeah, you have a point there.

Nonetheless, I feel compelled to add that Frank's failure to finish high school is not the reason he is an idiot. Rather, Frank is an idiot because he acts like an idiot.

I think I have an outstanding education at very-well respected institutions. As a result, people give me the benefit of the doubt over people who went to less respected institutions. That said, in my opinion, education and intelligence are two entirely different subjects, and you can have very well educated idiots just as you can have very intelligent people who never finished high school. If Frank continued to act the way he does, he would still be an idiot even if he managed to graduate from Harvard or Yale.

No, I agree with you. But he is the sum of all parts. And being a dropout is a key component, IMO.

Unfortunately, if the thread remains gone, then Frank has triumphed over a great board. If one person can have other peoples posts removed (post that have been deemed OK as they have been here for years) then he has taken effective ownership of the board and has become the defacto censor.

I suggest we give John and his moderators time to reply, if they care to, so that we can better understand the rules here.

I have a funny feeling that the thread may have been removed partly at Ms. Zhu's request....

Regardless, I think the moderator did the Right Thing in this case.

The thing that I find most troubling about this is that Frank has destroyed the evidence. He's free to continue to misguide people on this board who don't know any better without the burden of a past. People should be allowed to make up their own mind about the value of his postings based on the sum of his past advice.

In reflection, I feel that if Frank has the right to request that any or all of this threads be removed, it should be with the caveat that he goes too, permanently.

I strongly disagree with that. Anyone who posts here becomes part of the community. Now if someone says something stupid and quickly regrets it, then maybe it should go, but not an epic thread that has been here for years (which Frank has never apologized for). With all the others putting time into both thoughtful and angry and stupid responses, what gives the original poster the right to have other peoples posts deleted?

I have started a number of technical threads here over the years. It is my right to have those deleted along with the valuable technical additions from those who chose to reply to threads I started?

I'm with Mark. GR should only be allowed to delete his own posts, not whole threads.

Mark, I want the thread back too. I just meant that if the powers that be decide that he has that right (which I patently disagree with) then he should go as well. We are on the same page.
