Default Maverick Region Club Race Photos

Thought I'd post some photos I took at MSR this weekend. Some on the track, some in the paddock and garage.

More pics. Including one that is a very sobering reminder of how dangerous this sport can be when things go wrong.

I didn't even see or hear about the wreck the whole weekend, only read about here. What happened exactly? Is the driver ok(I think I read in the other thread that he was ok)? What about the other car and driver?

You didn't happen to get pictures of the interior and how the cage held up did you?

No, I didn't get that close.

It was ironic though that both cars were RS Americas.

Greg, the driver of the red RS was hospitalized with a broken pelvis, but will make a full recovery. The driver of the white RS is fine except for some bumps & bad bruises. I know both of them, and the driver of the white car is a very good friend. Not exactly sure what happened, but from what I have pieced together, they were racing closely, the red car may have spun in Big Bend, and the white car had nowhere to go. But I was not there, so that is informed speculation.

Dave, you have the story wrong. I was behind the red car with Watkins right behind me. The white car was behind Watkins. I didn't know you knew the guy in the red car?

I've got video of how it unfolded but I not sure I want to post it just yet.

Someone put some dirt out right at the apex of Big Bend (it wasn't there the lap before). Well, as soon as he ran over it, he got lose. No debris flag.......

It’s really a shame, as the four of us were having a great battle.

Great photos, thanks for posting. I had to go out of town, and missed the weekend. Sorry about the incident, but glad it wasn't worse.
How did you do George?

Hopefully, someone that knows the car better will answer, but I was told that it had a bolt-in cage rather than a welded cage. Not sure how much difference that makes.

What was the track like? Were there streams across the track on the straights? With this rain, I'd expect it to be soggy.

The track condition was ok. I was pretty much dry with no streams if I remember correctly. It changed day by day and hour by hour during the weekend though.

I believe the car had a bolt in cage with no door cross bar.
