I don't get your second statement. It IS better than oil. For a myriad of reasons. How we get it right now is not super efficient, but its all around better than the alternatives.

I didn't think you would get it.

Brendan, you are one of the funniest people I have come across on Rennlist; pathetically funny, but funny. Your last line in your post above has me thinking you started a bit early today.
I am trying to interact here Bob, in a logical manner. I'm just a regular guy that does a regular job (insurance, retirement planning) for my day job. I just really like ethanol, and take the opportunity sometimes to try and correct certain individual's thinking.

My point in mentioning the MSM is that it doesn't give any real technical info, and mixes in misinformation.

And from what I have read on here and in OT, the info that people have gotten from "credible" sources is not correct.

$7 here, bro. You pick it: 96 or 104 octane unleaded.

You are obviously about twice my age from your signature. BUt whats with the holier than thou.

You don't like Corn based ethanol - Thats fine. That DOES not make for a bad total idea of ethanol as a domestic fuel.

WAIT A MINUTE! I thought BrendanC was our savior and last bastion of factual information.

Maybe he just needs to move to where 93 octane cost far less than his 91 "crap", and race gas is $7.50 a gallon.

Huh? Twice your age???? And what would that have to do with anything?

Glad to see you are sticking to "the facts" and not attacking anyone personally.

VR, Big Sugar takes some of the biggest subsidies in the country right here in south Florida. Starting with the Fanjool family, big time political contributors to both parties, of course. (Recall the only phone call that Pres Bill took on a notable occassion with Monica). We end up paying top dollar while they mess up the water going into the the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie Rivers, not to mention the Everglades.

As for ethanol advocates, keep in mind their ever lovin' subsidies, as well. Why would anyone 1) put a highly hygroscopic substance, 2) a stong solvent that loads the filters and injectors with deposits, and 3) a liquid that has less btu/gm than gasoline..........into a fuel tank of a car that races perhaps once a month? Why else, but government mandate?

You are right, of course, Dan. I would prefer that we lift the ban on importing Brazilian sugar ethanol instead as a valid gasoline extender (note that I did not say "substitute").

I also note that Florida is trying to buy out US Sugar in order to regain control of 400,000 acres in the Everglades.
