Re-Paving TWS
My brother said that they were going to repave the oval since there is some crashcar rule that they can't test on the tracks they run. Anyone know if this is true?

Partly true. Not repave: refinish.

I don't know about re-pave, but they were definitely repairing it a week ago when I was there. Yes, It's been said that apparently there's some test and tune interest because of the new rule.

hahah I was hoping that maybe some of the rest of the grounds would be "repaved" also.
I guess something is better then nothing but hopefully the cost won't go up to much since it is for the crashcar boys they should pay for it.

If they are serious abut attracting the cup teams for testing, they will have to completely overhaul the garages and other amenities. In addition to the track upgrade. The facilities at TWS are a far cry from what those teams are used to. We'll see, this can only be good for the rest of us...I hope.

It could be really good for the place. It's such a fun track. I'm looking forward to racing there this year. I've only raced it in the CW direction and it was a ball. I've got a lot of time in at Sebring and it's the closest thing around here. Maybe it's the bumps.

The idea is to make it usable to the NASCAR, ARCA, and whatever other oval running teams for weekday testing and bringing in some additional revenue for the track. Refinishing of the oval is relatively inexpensive compared to repaving. Basically they are just smoothing out the bumpy bits with a giant sanding machine.
I don't expect that the cost of the repair is going to affect rental fees one way or another. Or to put it another way, if the fees change, it won't be because of the oval repairs. If TWS gets more weekday revenue from oval testing, it'll be good for everyone that drives there.
