Default NASCAR @ Infineon

Any bets?

I'm picking on of the following to win:
1. Tony Stewart
2. Marcos Ambrose
3. Mark Martin

Scott Speed did not qualify - overdrove the car in qualifying - went off course, but have no fear, Red Bull bought Joe Nemechek's starting position and Scott Speed will be in the race, in the 87 car, vs the 82 car.

I know you guys hate NASCAR but I had a ball last night watching qualifying.

Race is gonna be awesome with the double-file restarts (if there are any)

Brian

I am really looking forward to it.

I like Vickers as the time he spent at VIR recently has really helped him pick up the pace. I know Logano has spent a lot of road course time as well.

My picks

Montoya
Ambrose
Gordon

The double file restarts are a 'When' not 'If'

Personally, I hope they do at least 2-3 double file restarts. It'll really make the restarts fun to watch. (not that they aren't fun already)

You are right, Vickers did a great job yesterday, and he has just as good a shot to win.

My money is on Marcus Ambrose. He's a road racer and made his mark in a similar hard charging large V8 coupe world [Aussie V8 Supercar series] so he has the chops to beat the roundy rounders who turn right two times a year.

I'll be hoping for Boris to win. He drove our Koni car at WGI a few weeks back and is a really nice guy, not to mention a fast racer.

What's that mean? And how does it work?

It sure was fun to watch Speed drive in qualifying with that little position slider. He lost a ton, when sliding off into the dirt.

It means a couple things.

It will get him driver points for the championship although back in 35th or so it won't help get him to the Chase.

It gets the sponsor's name out there and makes them happy.

It doesn't help his car get 'owner points' to get him into the group of the automatic qualifiers though.

My Tasmainian cousin Marcos Ambrose, he just hasn't attended our NC family reunions...yet.

I will be watching this closer than any NASCAR race this year.....

Real Ambrose's like the challange of passing everybody. I must be adopted...
Barring a mechanical problem I believe he will rock the house.

I'll check back in tomorrow night.... cool:

Yeah, but how do they "buy" someone's qualifying spot? I know Nemacheck said he was looking for a sponsor for that race...how do they do a last minute driver change like that? (w/in the rules) Are they the same team? Couldn't anyone just buy their way to the front under those conditions?

Car's are qualfied not the drivers, from my understanding. Not sure how they'll grid him.

Nascar on a road coarse is a joke. I watched about 5 minutes for a good laugh.

+1
It would be cool to see one of the "old school" sports car drivers win.
