Default FIA investigating deliberate crash to promote Alonso to race win

Apparently Pinquet is telling all the state secrets Renault has been harboring, including the fact he was ordered to crash in a race last year to help Alonso win a race.

I personally find this hard to believe, because aside from the stolen Ferrari secrets from 2007 and the subsequent denial by Alonso that he was using the Ferrari info, following by his blackmail attempt of McLaren if they didn't make him the clear #1 driver over Hamilton, he has been a model citizen of the F1 community. He is the Golden Boy of which we have been blessed with....

FIA investigating Renault deliberate crash claims
30 August 2009

Formula One governing body the FIA has confirmed that it is reviewing claims that the Renault team instructed driver Nelson Piquet to crash deliberately in one of last year's Grands Prix. The team won the Singapore race with Fernando Alonso following a subsequent safety car period for Piquet which allowed the Spaniard to take the lead.

Rumours say that Piquet's shunt was instructed by the team
With Piquet having now been replaced at Renault by Romain Grosjean, Brazilian television channel Globo has reported that the French team gave orders to its second driver to crash in what is highly suspected to be the night race, forcing a deployment of the safety car.

With Alonso, who had made an earlier pit-stop, taking the lead when the leaders came in, the Spaniard went on to win his first Grand Prix of the season. It is now believed that an FIA spokesperson has claimed that 'alleged incidents at a previous FIA Formula One World Championship event' are now being looked at.

Problem is that they would need a safety car deployment to make the crash theory work... and it would take a lot of "attachments" for a driver to be willing to hit the wall hard enough (intentionally) to have enough damage for a SC.

First of all, all radio transmissions are monitored. If such an instruction went out, it would be surely noticed.

Secondly, Piquet is a weenie who is showing his stripes by whining like a little baby now that he is out. Surely no one would ever give him the time of day again now that he has demonstrated his vindictive, childlike tendencies.

+1 Was there ever a race where JR. didn't hit a wall?

This time "Wheel-spat Freddie" just got lucky as he sometimes does.

Will Piquet JR have a place in Nascar?

Don't think he's got a sugar-daddy to hep him take over Milka Duno's drive.

Not really, that race was pretty tight quarters, all you have to do is exit too wide and hit the wall, the car will stick to the wall and you'll leave debris all over the track, and hello safety car.

From the video posted it looked like IF in fact Piquet was trying to crash that's what he was trying to do and actually missed spinning all the way around to the inside wall, which would be hilarious if he actually missed a wall he was TRYING to crash into. I can't believe anyone would voluntarily slide all the way across track into a wall like he did and risk that kind of injury. He either missed the outside wall, or it's a lie IMO.
