I'm in. I would love to see how the various F cars stand up all tested on the same dyno during the same time period.

My results seem to be very consistent with my setup. Here are two different engines that were in my car last year.

You will note that my car is likely the lowest HP GTS3 car around

Here's mine. It was a very cold day; I think that helped.

I like the NASA system, when they have a dyno at the track. Both my cars got dynoed at no cost to me after finishing well at VIR. The dyno operater drives the car so you cannot cheat there, however if you are over the class limit you pay for the dyno, $100.

It stops people accusing you of having too much whp as well while at the event.
I also like the built in scales at VIR, at one race they scaled the whole race group.

I'm not sure I understand the point other than knowing where you stand from a hp/weight perspective in your class. At what point is a D class SC considered a cheater? With enough legal tweaking, is 195 whp achievable? What is the limit before everyone suspects cheating?

From Jess' post, I see he's at 195 whp (a front running car and driver). My car turned in 185 whp last Friday (as a back running car and driver, I wanted to know why I was seemingly being pulled down the straights and couldn't pull around D cars as I saw others do). I've seen charts for other Euro SCs that show 210. So there's a difference across the class of potentially 25 hp. That's the difference, IMO, between a car that's been carefully tweaked or recently rebuilt vs my tired and older motor.

FWIW, I did pick up 3 hp by simply bolting on megaphones. The K&N filter test (for s's and giggles - I had extra time) showed no improvement.

Also, in spec miata circles, I understand that different stock ECUs yield different hp when matched to different motors. So a good shop will try a handful of ECUs on a dyno to find the one that works best. Again, all are stock, legal ECUs.

I agree with Bryan, this won't accomplishing anything. Does PCA not have a formal process for filing a protest? If you think someone is cheating, then protest them.

That is hilarious...............I need to find out who built that engine. Must have been one of the F1 builders.

The word "protest" isn't even in the rule book Greg. lol I don't know what you are supposed to do. I don't really care, not like there is prize money or contingencies involved, like with other racing organizations. Who wants to be "that guy" complaining when there is literally nothing at stake besides local bragging rights??

If you think a car is suspect, I guess you have to hope the stewards do too?

That said, SCCA has a formal protest procedure. I was involved with one at the DC Pro autox last year. There is also a lot more at stake there $$ wise, so I see the need. Not sure why PCA doesn't follow the SCCA lead here. I would support that.

oh, and national dyno day. funny!!

I fully endorde this one. A competitor should be able to protest another one. Usually the competitors in the class know more about the specifics of the allowances for each class than the scruts. However, as with SCCA, there should be a financial penalty and a bond paid by the protester to ensure it only gets done when there is factual and serious doubts. (+ the cost of the protest is beared by the "loosing" party)

There will always be cheaters in all aspects of life.......

Why are we shocked it happens in PCA CR?.....

Personally I decided to work on the driver itself......

I can't be called a cheater for that......

It would be nice to have a fair playing field in CR..... but then again I should stop fantasizing......
