Glen has told me my opinion on this incident (posted here in another thread) is off base, and that I will understand why when we are with Patrick Long in 10 days. I am willing to admit my opinion may be incorrect, and will wait to see what Pat says.

Interesting to see that combo of pictures, did you make it?

--> However, the most important picture is missing from the first frame -- that Jan was about 20' behind Joerg before the apex of that last turn.

Even the Speed TV announcers were saying at that second that Jan was too far back didn't have a chance.
And then they were like "he hit him!"

That Compuware team thought Joerg was a soft target, but after Joerg got whacked he did one consistent blocking maneuver....

Patrick is not going to say anything different....

Jan is a much more professional driver than that, but they owned GT1 for years and the team radio kept pushing him to do anything to get around Joerg.

Next year is going to be nuts!

When I heard that both drivers are accepting the outcome of this racing incident, it was settled for me. At this point there is no reason to point fingers...

Kudos to Jan for saying: "I tried hard and failed" and to Joerg for saying: "Can't push me around like you thought you could"!

On to the next season.

There's been a little more....

regarding driver's comments about the incident than shown here !!!

I really don't want to get into a pi$$ing contest so you might want to go over to

www.corvetteforum.com

and check the autocrossing & road racing section to see both Johnny O's and Jan's comments about the incident.

Also includes additional pictures and comments about the "accident".

Like it or not, it's pretty clear that Jorg made the right choice and was rewarded for it with a victory. Both drivers should get a bonus check from IMSA for all of the publicity this has received, every car forum on earth has at least a few threads about it.

FOURTEEN PAGES and still posting.

Thread's title is: "Dirty Bergmeister" in the Autocrossing and Roadracing section.

Lou gives a sermon regarding last weekend's race but...

Lou has issues with the Factory racing team (some well justified)...

that may cloud his judgement.

An additional three pages & counting is under:

"Magnussen unhurt in last lap crash".

what I meant was a lot of trash talk about Jorg but not much about the near punting he got in the last corner. apparently Jan claims that Jorg over-braked... Why he would do that when he had a good lead into the corner is beyond me. Now if Jan was all over his rear bumper, well..maybe then. Still the Porsche cannot out drag the Vette so the logic fails me...

When I saw the punt in the last turn I thought it was intentional. Also, I thought JB shoved JM into the wall, but the video in the other post shows otherwise.

It was a very exciting finish to the race. Wish I had recorded it.
