Lewis Hamilton will be carrying LESS fuel into the start of Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix than the Red Bull pairing of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber behind him. Seventh-placed Robert Kubica is the lightest car on the grid - and will therefore pit first - as Renault, following their poor qualifying session, fuels Alonso and Grosjean up for one-stop strategies.



- Lightest car: Robert Kubica / BMW - 7th - 654.5kg
- Heaviest car: Romain Grosjean / Renault - 19th - 710.8kg


Post-qualifying car weights:

Lewis isn't .5 lighter worth of fuel, if he gets out of the gates, he could really fly away quickly.

I think McLaren made a mistake fueling Hamilton low like that. Hamilton would have rocketed to the front with the KERS anyway, but as it stands, Vettel is 2 laps longer than Hamilton and Webber 1 lap longer.

If Hamilton pulls away from Vettel as predicted, it could play into Vettels hands as he'll run in clean air, thus saving his tires. What we don't know is how he medium compound will hold up on long runs especially on a new track with heat and sand.

Varsha said that Kovolinen has intimated to the press in Finland that it seems ironic that all the bad luck on the team seems to befall him and not Hamilton. They referenced the fact that he lost a gearbox today, and engines in the past where Hamilton don't seem to have those mechanical failures. Clearly Heiki is saying that Hamilton gets the choice parts and McLaren are not happy with his comments in the press.

Think Varsha will get in trouble for his comment about Todt and FIA clothing in kid's sizes?? He'll probably have to offer several apologies during tomorrow's broadcast... have to be PC you know...

I'm trying to think back to the last time that Little Miss Sunshine started 15th....wait, it will come to me.....Valencia?......but wait, something must be wrong.....15th and heavy on fuel unlike Valencia?.....oh wait, no Piquet Jr and no safety car strategy....wonder if she knows the fuel load THIS time?


And on a somber note, this is the last race for me and Ferrari....sorry Luca, call me when she's gone.

Hats off to both Webber and Button for a great duel at the end there... Really hard, but clean racing.

Vettel looked very deserving again. I think wthout the Brazilian qualifying lottery he would have won there.

I wonder if Hamilton's brake problems were already manifesting themselvesin the first stint, as it seemed odd that he could put no gap on Vettel after yesterday's qualifying results. Good call on McLaren for pulling him out rather than risking it.

Although Toyota was expected to reveal an all-new driver line-up ahead of the 2010 season, John Howett has hinted that Kamui Kobayashi is likely to be handed a full-time race role with the Cologne outfit following his two sparkling performances while subbing for the injured Timo Glock at the end of the 2009 campaign.






With Glock having crashed heavily in qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix, test driver and 2008-2009 GP2 Asia Champion Kobayashi took the reins alongside Jarno Trulli, finishing an eye-opening ninth in Brazil before registering a fantastic sixth in Abu Dhabi to score three points in only his second Formula One race.

"It looks like it," team President Howett replied when asked if Japanese Kobayashi is a strong candidate for a seat next season. "We will have to give it some really serious consideration, as he has really shown very good and strong results. I am very impressed and we were very happy again; what we like is his real fighting spirit, he's not intimidated by anybody, so it's very positive."

With Trulli and Glock not out of the picture and Adrian Sutil also linked with a possible move from Force India, Howett also considers the option of two rookie drivers. "I think that's something we are currently discussing," he continued. "There are some drivers that are not fixed who you would consider but, if they didn't look likely, we would prefer to take a brave new direction."

A decision from the red and white squad could come after a board meeting on Sunday 15 November.
