Boxster S model for NASA GTS

Depends on what area of the country you live in, how many modifications you are doing, and if you are going to bump the power on the motor.
I would try to go for 3 and make a very light car. Currently 3 is domonated by M3's, but would like to have a shot at them in a boxter.
Or, two would be nice too. In this area GTS2 is a fairly large group with a good mix of cars. One or two Boxters and they are fairly heavy.

Which btw has had a 996 dominate GTS3 here.
Also last years Nationals were won by a 996 with another fairly strong 996 competing also, although it had a mechanical which took it out of the main race. I know a number of the Ohio/east coast M3's didn't make the Nationals last year but hopefully they will all make it this year.

It would be a very heavy car to run in 2. The SpecBoxsters run there with 190 rwhp and weight of 2755.
That car certainly did not sound stock! What has already been done to it? Just exhaust or something else? Noticed the RUF emblems as well ...
Make it a 4 car, I need another to play with. You also don't want 2 Viking built cars in the same class competing against one another, 4 gives you a chance to win in multiple classes.

Jay was flying this weekend. Tell him congrats.
Rob and I were talking about a Boxster for GTS this weekend. I wonder about a lightened Boxster with a 3.4. That would be fun.

You think 2 would be that hard ? Stock they weigh about 3100+ and rwhp should be around 220ish, that could still be made to run GTS2 with a little ballast or a detune.
No, it doesn't sound stock, it has one of those loud Fabspeed mufflers on it, I think that will be the first thing I take off ! One slightly used Fabspeed muffler coming to Ebay soon....
As for the RUF emblems... just a looks thing, it got the RUF front bumper and side aero and RUF also sold them the logos to make it appear to be a RUF.
Since you will be the first, as GTS Reg. director, after myself and the owner, to see the dyno results you will know before everyone else where it will be. I'm still kinda torn between what class it should race in.
Now I could just send Jay to GTS4 and then make it a 3 car ....
Question, how light can you get a Spec Boxster ? Any idea how much heavier an S model is ?

Our new Boxster will be in one of the GTS classes. Hoping for an April showing, but we will see as we havn't developed one of these for GTS yet, it might be later in the year.
Oh, and we will just run the 3.2 motor in it.

I have seen a Boxster S in GTS3 and it was fast. Chased it for some laps and managed to get around him only to find out it had a 996 engine in it. The 2005 and newer Boxster fit into GTS3 also and seem to dyno in the 250-260 range with exhaust etc. If the HP is 220,then I would run GTS2. You will need to re-gear of course to use the 6speed effectively. The aero on the modern cars is a real advantage.

Specs say the S model is 2855 to the 2.7 at 2778 (77 lbs.). the Spec Boxster's run at 2650 w/driver, I got my Spec Boxster down to 2490 w/driver (160lbs.) with Lexan, CF hood & fenders, and gutted steel doors. I think if you removed the excess wiring, went to glass doors and a CF dash you could get the car to 2275 maybe less. Then you'd be down around 11 and a perfect fit into GTS3....

Yep, but the stock S weighs around 2900 lbs without driver. Cage in, top on, lighter seats and wheels. If you look at the lap times for a Boxster S at Summit it would be a handful for GTS2. The problem with running it in GTS3 is the lack of torque compared to the M3's. There must have been 10 M3's in GTS3 at the Tbolt race in October and they were tough competition. I would want a bigger engine to run GTS3 with a 2001/2002 BoxsterS.
