Left foot braking.......Yeah or Nay?........
Since we are re-ashing old subjects like shuffle steer or not, why not talk about a technique that can actually make you a bit faster?
BTW, if you want some good info. on LFB, check this thread....

Do lot's of practice before trying it out on a race. Breaking on the straight when you meant to stab the clutch will lose you a few places. Geez, how did I know that.

I have been learing to LFB. I can pretty much do it on the street to good effect. However I still don't have the sensitivity in the left on the brakes that I do the right. As a result I am still slower trying to LFB in spots vs the lift & tap with the right.
I believe I can gain some time with good use of the left, but it all depends on the corner and what the car needs.

Best way to learn to LFB is to drive an auto on the street and LFB 100% of the time. The feel will come...takes a lot of feel to come to a really smooth stop at a stoplight (i.e. not they way 98% of the driving public stops).

When I am conscious of it, I try to brake with my left foot on the street. I have almost no sensitivity in it because of a previous injury... but the worst is the pin in my pelvis. makes it kind of painful to keep my left leg elevated like that. oh well, practice makes perfect. ill keep trying and see if its possible.

I used to use it a lot in autocross and "quick" turns on the track where you have to get right back on the gas quickly (T3 at road atlanta comes to mind), but I think you lose more in sensitivity than you gain in transition speed.

If I had a left foot I would be left foot braking...when I had a left foot, I left foot braked....Also I am a drummer so I am very ambidextrous. ;-)

Have you ever noticed...
In LHD cars, the wiper stalk is on the right and the turn signal stalk is on the left,
but in RHD cars, the wiper stalk is on the left, and the turn signal stalk is on the right?
A little confusing at first, but it helps that the theme is repeated elsewhere...
Shifter
LHD: located at driver's right.
RHD: located at driver's left.
Rear view mirror
LHD: mirror is at driver's 2 o'clock.
RHD: mirror is at driver's 10 o'clock.
A pattern is forming...
Elbow rest (aka window sill)
LHD: supports driver's left elbow.
RHD: supports driver's right elbow.
I'm getting the hang of this...
Clutch
LHD: driver's left.
RHD: driver's left.
Throttle
LHD: driver's right.
RHD: driver's right.
WTF?
Perhaps this is the work of the ambidextrous underground.
Or a sick joke perpetrated by the "pat your head and rub your tummy" clouns.
Or maybe it's a conspiracy - a LFB conspiracy! Yeah, that's got to be it. A friggin left-foot-braking, shuffle-steering, trail braking, heel-toeing conspiracy.
Automakers be warned: There's an anti-electronics, hands & feet conspiracy movement "afoot"!
