There is a big difference between good and great photos.

This is turn 5 at Eagles Canyon Raceway, just past the apex. What I like about this shot is that you enter turn 5 going downhill and then make a right hand turn back up the next hill. It's cool how the pavement fills the background and frames the car due to the elevation change. Also shows how the driver needs to spin his head around to look up towards the apex of the next turn.

To get back on subject of good vs. great., you should take a lesson from two of the greats, Rick Dole and Regis Lefebure. This is simply how it's done...

Great links Blackness...thanks!
Yes back on subject....for me when I see a car on track and the wheels are stopped and not in motion...those type of pics just do not do it for me. You need to show motion in the pictures and tell a story

To all those who have posted. I salute you and your amazing photos as they have allowed me to waste a perfect 20 minutes on the job on a friday afternoon. Now i have finished my workday and I can hop in my Porsche and go home!

I've just browsed through the thread and didn't see a mention but I'm sorry if its a repost, one of my favorite motorsports photogs is Aaron from motorsportlens.com his gallery from Laguna Seca ALMS: http://www.motorsportlens.com/alms_lagunaseca_2010/ I think he does a killer job of capturing the whole scene, action and atmosphere rather than just a crisp photo of a car.
Just for fun here are some of my personal favs that I have shot:
michael, with the old chassis, appears to be understeering a bit:
have a few decent shots of myself on track as well but not in the Porsche so I dont know if thats allowed

ZJChaser, I like your pics because they show motion with the cars and background. They tell the story of what was happening on the track in the picture.
I see a lot of photo's on this thread and the cars look parked on the track...zero motion in the spin of the wheels or blur of the background or even part of the car is blured while the other part is in sharp focus making you feel the speed.

Unfortunately, I have yet to see a "great" photo from any of the local track day photographers. No offense, just the reality. Some stunning pics in this thread.
