Hate to be the guy that wads that up, they should detune it.... $7K won't cover the wheel damage.

Says you get "over 30 miles" of driving, so 8 laps at almost $1k per lap...

Hardly well suited to that track, way too narrow and technical.
Still, if you have the money and want to do it, what the hell?

It's an Arrows A18 F1 car, circa 1997. The legal disclaimer says the driver is financially responsible for any damage to the car.

There it is again... "...to take on the 4.1 mile track." They have 4.1 miles paved, but even in the longest configuration it's only about 3.7 miles. Not a big deal, just interesting that they continue to overstate the length, implying that's what you drive.

So, you are responsible for damage, but what about wear-and-tear.

Struggling business model. They need the clubs but the members paid and are upset that others can run for a reasonable daily fee is my guess. Maybe there are some members with legal actions? They say no clubs next year. Run it while you can.

I remember learning that the club had the right to 8 promotional days, meaning they could rent it out for 8 days a year and be within the agreements with the members. The first year we ran there I think we were the only club invited and we had 4 days. This year we have the same 4 days. But it looks like there have already been 10 days with a wide variety of clubs and I see 6 more days scheduled ahead for a total of 16 days. Too much of a "good thing"? The income is probably critical to the facility, but before closing the door altogether, you would think sticking with the rule at 8 days would be reasonable.

Another related experience is the Lime Rock Club. Our first year with the club in place was pretty interesting because we created a "shared day" scenario. We would have say a Saturday event and we would have an hour and the club would have an hour, alternating all day. So we'd get 3x 20 minute sessions in our hour and that would take care of Red, Black, and White on an Advanced Day or Red, Yellow, and Green on a Novice Day. During the club hour we'd see only a few cars, but I'd have to think that the excitement we PCA people bring to the facility has to be good for the few members that are there. Otherwise, could you imagine spending a whole day at a track pretty much by yourself?

Well firstly I'd have to say WoW....but then wonder just what is going on here? There's little chance that the guys that can pony up $7k have anywhere near the driving experience to handle an F1 car. What do you think the rev limiter is set at? Guess the same guys that have this sort of money for less than 10 laps can afford to pay for damages. You would have to assume that damages are a real chance too, especially if it's on a wet track like the one pictured lol.

Wonder how this goes....

The F1 thing seems a marketing thing to me. I think it is Vulcan Motors or the like. You would never be able to get enough heat into the tires or get any real grip or downforce. The HP would really have to be backed down or all you would get is tire spin. It didn't even sound like it was going to be on the full member course. I thought the club thing was working and that the members would like the opportunity to interact with many different cars on track from the different groups. A balance between membership and financial survival.
But then again ; I'm just a little fish. Gofishracing.

Seriously now. What chance that anyone likely to pay-to-play to drive an F1 car would have a ghost of a chance of being able to get it around a lap in one piece?

There's some great video of Chris Harris [Porsche Supercup, VLN series, plus drove the RS Spyder at Le Mans a few years back] trying his hand in Mark Webber's old Jaguar F1 that Martin Brundle was preparing for Goodwood a few years back. Chris is a good shoe, but it took every bit of his skill to handle a few laps in the F1 car. If you haven't seen it, its great video and a serious dose of reality[click the embedded player below to see the full wide screen version on YouTube]:
