TPC turbo cars on a track
#16
Had a friend who ran a TPC supercharger on a 964 for years. Very reliable. If I were doing it I wouldn't hesitate to put a third radiator in a Cayman/997-oil cooler on a 993 etc. especially if you're tracking the car. While I don't really know if it would overheat without them and have never heard of them doing so a cooler running engine is a happier one.
If you're interested in getting your car turbo or super charged you're going to the right place. I have never heard a bad thing about TPC or their products and Mike regularly comes to Summit and helps both customers and people like me who've never bought a thing from him.
He also gives generously to our club and our programs. A wonderful person in every respect; if I were going to put (gobs of) more power in my motor (for damn little considering) I wouldn't go to anyone else. And I would definitely factor in that LSD- you're wasting the power and your money otherwise.

Paul, i thought you crossed us off of your list... There is no such thing as a lag free turbo... However if you have 20+ years experience adding FI to NA cars and making FI cars way faster you are capable of pairing the correct turbo pieces to make a very responsive turbo system.
If i heard correctly you should pick up the next issue of Grassroots motorsports, there might be a turbo cayman on the cover
How many grand am driver's approval do you need?

Here's another perspective on the track potential of a Cayman with the TPC turbo.
As a shop that is building these cars for our customers, I can tell you that we have done some fairly rigorous testing and development including a number of test days where the ambient temp was well into the upper 90's. The package has performed remarkably well, even under these torturous conditions. It all starts with attention to detail, then finding the weak links and correcting them before they become an issue.
The car really feels like it has a big V8 in it and is an absolute riot to drive while still rewarding the driver that rolls in entry speed.

good no doubt. all fun.
still, price of TPC mod is close to price of a spec boxster donor car. i`ll need to think twice or even more times what way to proceed - to continue frankensteining my 997 c2 or get a dedicated simpler and cheaper platform to run on a track.
or do both.

How about stopping the mods and just driving what you have in hand in DE for a year or two? Get yourself into the White or equal run group then think of which way to go with a DE or Race car.
