Default Testing tires for Michelin in Dubai...

Primarily the successor to the PS2, which will be out at the beginning of the new year. It's called the Pilot Super Sport....and it is pretty impressive. Essentially the same dry grip as the current Sport Cup (N0 and N1 spec), with similar predictability & breakaway....but more squealing at the limit (as befits a primaily street tire, versus the PSC which is a track tire). Oh, and unlike the PSC, these work in water!

And no, we aren't using the Yaz Marina circuit, since F1 is still there. We are using the Dubai Autodrome, which is interesting, but VERY tough on brakes (we killed brakes today on the Ferrari 458 and the Gallardo). Here are a few pics.

Which cars did you drive? Any pics of the tire tread? Oh and tell Michelin to lay off the inflated high prices and get competitive with Bridgestone prices! LOL

Also could you ask them to either make the MSC's in 245/40/18 and 305/35/18 for 997's that run 18"....also ask them why the 19" MSC's in 235/35/19 and 305/30/19 are not as sticky as MSC's in other sizes? Does it have to do with Porsche N Spec and trying to get longer wear on the Sport Cups that come stock on the Gt3/RS cars?

Thanks VR!

Cool,
I have 944 spec racer friend mine who is an Instrutor at both Dubai Autodrome and Yas Marina. Currently he is in the US.

I would like to know how long the phone conversation that got you on the plane was! It wouldn't have needed to be very long for me.

Very cool! I was there earlier this year to help a gt3 cup team work on set up for a car they raced in the UAE Gt series. Ran 2 different configurations of the autodrome (24hr course and I think the international) and also ran a night time event at Yas Marina. The autodrome is a fun track. It was more fun than Yas but of course the facility at Yas is insane.

Chris, there were lots of Michelin folks there, some from Greenville & some from France. Mdrums, the 997 S, 997 TT, M3, Schnitzer M3, SLS, 458, and Auti TT. Yes, they say it is due to thr N spec longevity issue. Tread photo attached...

Cory, we used the International circuit + 2 of the smaller sub circuits, all daytime only. Interesting track, hard on brakes...

Michelin yesterday didn't give any specific sizes.

Do you have some more information?

TIA

John

I am also here. Got to meet Larry and the great VR in person. It's a hell of a tire, very predictable. Track was great, could have used some more track time, but you always can.

911slow-prety sure there will be a fitment for your car, they are supposed to be out first quarter of 2011.
