I have seen a few people go off very badly in front of me. I share that video with the Track Chair because they need to know what happened - with the request that it not be distributed and with the unfortunate driver if they ask me directly. Anyone else needs the explicit permission of the driver.

Watch what happens when a crumpled car is towed off the track. A crowd of gawkers looking and snapping pictures. (usually with incorrect statements like "oh man! Its totaled")
+1, and +1 to what Laurie and Bob said. Also, PCA (Pete) can prohibit filing altogether if they want. These are private events run on private property. Organizers can do pretty much what they want regarding rules & regulations.

I had a pretty bad off this past weekend during a race. While I was being examined by medics and interviewed by stewards, my friends shepherded my car off to an enclosed garage away from the gawkers. It was a really thoughtful thing for them to do for me.

It should be obvious that posting other people's accidents is wrong without participants permission.

Although, I wonder what any one of us here would do if we happened to capture someone like Ghettoracer in his moment of glory. Does being a total unrepentant jackass give license to public posting? To warn others, perhaps.

Best,
Honestly, I wouldn't care. I think there's a lot to be learned from looking at wrecked race cars and seeing what failed, how it failed, and how it can be improved upon in the future. It's too bad a lot of that info in never shared.

I was going to confirm that was my read as well, but Pete beat me to it.
He is absolutely right to ask that videos showing unfortunate events not be posted without the subject's permission.

If that were true, you would have been banned a long time ago.

We wanted to get it into the garage where the lighting was better for photos.

I'm fine guys. It was a hard hit, so the medics were there as a precaution, but all of the safety equipment worked as it should. The car's a mess, but the tub is square, and I'll have it back on the track soon (not soon enough though!).

Mike - If any parts turn up missing I don't have them.
Good to hear the tub is true, and that you'll be back soon.

If its a race car I'll go look just to see how the safety equipment performed.
