Button. Why the hell not?

This is going to be a really fun race, especially with the IMSA GT3 Cup series for support!

I'm headed up with a few Rennlisters on Thursday. A bunch of Rennlisters are sitting in grandstand 33 by turn 6. I also have a hairpin ticket for Friday practice.

If anybody's interested in joining our caravan on the way up Thursday around 12 noon at the Maiden rest stop on the Thruway http://www.thruway.ny.gov/travelplazas/tp-103n.html send me a PM.

Rain in the forecast?

Best race of the season by FAR, if it rains....

Wet, Hammy. Dry, Vettel.

The track really places an emphasis on forward traction (which Ferrari seem to have an advantage on right now) relative to aero grip (where RedBull is really strong right now), so my pick is Alonso. I suspect that Vettel will get pole, but will loose the lead by the end of the first lap.

BTW, I'll be there in the turn 6 grandstand.

Apart from the obvious advantages that Ferrari has at this track, Fernando is developing momentum and is really hungry for a victory It's hard to pick anyone but Vettel, since he has won 5 out of the 6 races so far this season. He is a talented driver and as he matures, is making fewer and fewer mistakes. I think Fernando is overdue for a win

Speaking of overdue - Heidfeld hasn't won a professional race since the 90's. Considering the Renault is one of the quickest cars in the straight line, maybe he's got an off chance either here or in Monza.

After catching the last half of "Le Mans" last night on TCM, I'm going to go with:

Pete Aron in the Yamura
(even though it is not a poll choice)

Interesting how we are now looking for (ie waiting for) the track where Vettel will NOT win. My thought is that this is the 2nd track this year he will not win and barely get a podium.

If there ever was a track where the Ferraris have an advantage this year, Montreal is it. That said, I think Hamilton will not only win, but be convincing in his victory. The MAC is really good in this type of configuration and with the double DRS zones on track, and Hamilton's ability to dive in late during breaking (Monaco fiasco aside) I believe he will do extremely well.

1. Hamilton
2. Alonso
3. Vettel
4. Button
5. Webber

Two thoughts, this year's GPs have been unusually dry -- even Malaysia where you typically get some downpour. Nothing yet. We don't quite know how the full wet Pirelli's will hold up in a wet race.

The other thought is that this year's races have been unusually clean toward the pointy part of the grid. No broken noses, wings etc. during the standing starts. Look for something like that this race as it's long overdue.

I have voted "Vettel" in every race this season in these polls, except for this race. Montreal is not really a track Red Bull excels at. As much as I thought Hamilton was a big baby from Monaco, I had to vote for him in this poll. He is more aggressive than Button so if he does not mess up in qualifying, he should be starting in front of Jenson. Plus I think McLaren is still a better car than Ferrari though Ferrari does well at this track just like they do well at Monza a similar type of track with long straights broken up with chicanes.

My heart tells me to cheer for Red Bull, but my head tells me McLaren will take it.

I'm sticking with Vettel. I don't see any other team that is close, especially after the last 2 races where Vettel's tires were going off and he was still holding the second place driver at bay, and they were using KERS and DRS.

But that was Monaco where it's so hard to pass and DRS was not allowed during the longest straight (through the tunnel). Canada allows for long straights and plenty of overtaking opportunities.

We could be wrong and Vettel will see the top step again, but if he's not going to win, it will probably be this one.

Anyone have a forecast for the weekend?

Pete, the race before Monoco had a long straight, Vettel was on over used tires, his KERS was not working all the time, and since he was leading couldn't use the DRS, and Hamilton failed repeatedly to pass him with fresher tires, a working KERS, and DRS. Anything could happen at Montreal, granted, but I still like Vettel's chances. He is riding the wave at the moment.

Hammy is very strong at this track. I voted for Hamilton but it will come down between him and vettel
