They are more popular in the Caterham / Lotus scene because of the lack of space available to fit the more traditional Recaro / Sparco / etc. I believe one of their newer seats just gained FIA certification which is nice.

In karts, yes.
Tillet makes very good seats. Actually spoke to him on the phone once about a custom seat.

I've run them in several of my cars. The seat you posted a link to is the B2 and that is too reclined for a Porsche. You need a more upright, saloon-type seat and the B1 or B6F models are appropriate for your application. The B1 is for cars that retain the factory three-point belts in addition to harnesses and the B6F is an FIA-certified seat for cars with harness-only setups.

Feel free to PM me with any questions

Guys, I was looking at one of these for my 993 C2.

The car currently has OEM 993 RS seats fitted but even with these, my head is touching the sunroof; for track use, with helmet, I've got no chance. As I bought the car as a track project, it would seem I have three options: -

1) remove the sunroof - expensive
2) find a VERY low seat - a challenge because no one seems to sell one suited for a 993
3) sell the car and get a 996 GT3

If anyone can give me some guidance on the lowest seat possible, it would be appreciated.

We used them in karts, but didn't look anything like that. Like a pair of running shoes, they're only good if they fit right.

Try a Beasley Composite seat next time. I think you will be happy with it.

Referring to the B2

U r curled up as opposed to a L shaped seat

I have my sparco mounted so back is almost vert so my arms reach steering but theat leaves me with zero thigh support... Long legs bent and the seat close to to pedals and wheel

You need a spacer on the steering hub. Or a deeper wheel. A QR makes a big difference as well.

Yup

Used to a more reclined open wheel style seating... It would help with head room too, no?

Yes. Rocking the seat back has a big impact on headroom. Unless you have cut out the factory seat pan the only way to get more headroom is to use a shell with side plates that allows the seat to drop below the rails. The rake of the seat pan means as you slide the seat back you'll pick up more headroom too. If your challenged for more ditch the sliders and get the flat steel Bk mounts you'll pick up another inch or so. A momo mod7 plus a spacer plus a QR hub will allow you to drive from the back seat DTM style...plenty of range.
