Austin F1 select seating waitlist goes on sale tonight!
Got the e-mail from COTA about an hour ago, already reserved four seats.
Act fast, these will sell out in no time!.
Here's how it works:
You send them (paypal) a $100/seat deposit price (fully refundable) from tonight untill Feb 13. After Feb 13th, they'll start contacting individuals on the waitlist with a survey with information regarding the different seating options and pricing available. Your place on the waitlist is assigned according to how soon you sent your deposit.
"Personal Seat Licenses" will go on sale March 1, 2012. These PSL's range in price from $1,000 to $5,000 per seat depending on proximity to the start/finish line and amenities, payable, if desired, in two installments. Every PSL entitles its holder to purchase tickets for all racing events at Circuit of The Americas for the next 15 years. The license also gives its holder a priority position to purchase tickets for entertainment events held at Circuit of The Americas for the duration of the license.

No problem, please do remember that you need to send a $100 deposit per seat (or PSL).
No idea on pricing yet, but last year we went to the German GP and the prices ranged from $200/seat (grandstand pass Sunday only) to $1300/seat (weekend pass to VIP hospitality).
I guess we'll know after March 1st.
Hey it's my 1000th post, cool! What do I win?

Maybe that's why they are looking for $1k-$5k for rights to buy future tickets...
I was tempted at first, but think I'll sit out the PSL and take my chances on race tickets themselves.
PSLs are a bit of a bet on whether you think they will have an F1 race in Austin for the next 15 years. If they do, those PSLs will be worth a lot more than $1k-$5k! If not they will be essentially worthless.

Without details on ticket cost I couldn't bring myself to put down $100 deposit for a chance to spend $1k-$5k which will give me the option to spend $unk on seats. But I guess it is more of an investment if you can sell any tickets you do get.
But sometimes I feel like I'm on the bottom end of posters here financially

It appears that the seats in question are in the proximity of start/finish in the main grandstand. Having watched the prior USGP at Indy from the start/finish, T1, T6, T10 and T11, I can tell you that you won't see much racing from the start/finish line. Give me something about 20 rows up near a turn complex any day!

With a low enough seat in one of the turns, you can feel the cars go by. If you could feel the Grid Girls, then that's another thing altogether!
