Default Accusump goes to 0

I have an Accusump in a Boxster. There is a fitting bewteen the Valve and tank. I placed the oil pressure pick up in the fitting, and I should see pressure on my gauge with the engine off. It bleeds off in just a few seconds after the engine is turned off. Obviously the valve is bad. Is anyone using a different solenoid that holds up better

Do you have a manual or electric accusump system?

In my spec box with the electric system, it is wired up so that I have to manually switch it off before turning off the ignition. Otherwise, the Accusump dumps to the case when the ignition is off and the crankcase pressure drops below 35 psi. If yours isn't wired that way, could the fitting to the pressure gauge be leaking?

The solenoid s wired to the off the Red Blue wire in the trunk left of the ECU box it shows to be on the ignition switch, No other switch was installed. All the lines were checked and double checked for leaks.

I had a failure with mine, faulty bleeder valve. I suggest you have whoever installed it (you?) call Canton and report it. After some heckling, our shop was able to get a replacement for my car. We started noticing the same thing, zero pressure - may be a bad switch assembly. Good luck!

It sounds like someone tried to wire it automatically, but it doesn't work that way. Typically as pazzo said you need a switch to shut the valve so the accusump doesn't bleed down. If you shut the power off the valve will stay in it's current(open) state.

Yep. Wire in a manual toggle switch.

On my accusump, the gauge shows the air pressure behind the piston. As per the setup instructions, that should be around 10psi even if the solenoid valve is open. If it is bleeding down to 0, I think that indicates an air leak. The bleeder valve mentioned above would be a possible cause, but not the solenoid valve, since that is on the oil side of the piston.

A little trick is before shutdown bring the rpm up to 2500 rpm or so, then throw the switch, it will pressurize to about 30-40 psi. Before start trow the switch and prelube the motor for a couple of seconds, startup is the worst on a motor...

I think I found it. I nstalled a switch like you said. I turned it off with pressure on it then shut off the engine. I heard a pop from the valve, it bypassed. I'll need a new solenoid or I'll install a manual valve.

hello. I have a separate switch so that I can control the solenoid valve. my system is almost 10 yrs old, and it will hold pressure indefinitely when the motor is off (I had the car down for repairs for over 3 yrs once, motor out of car, and it still had 65 psi in the accusump when i reinstalled the rebuilt engine and started it up. you def have something wrong with your solenoid.

good luck

Default Solenoid is junk

I took the solenoid apart the diaphragm is torn. So I'm ordering a new one. the real question is do I build too much pressure for it. I noticed as I was removing it that it is only good for 100 PSI, and I've seen the gauge at 90 PSI when the car is cold before the engine really warms up, and that at low RPM 3000 to 4000.
