How to disassemble / reassemble three piece rims
I've purchased wider rim halves for the wheels on my 928 (see pic in my sig line).
These are Strosek rims built by OZ Racing. They have the headless bolt construction (like a Fikse?) where you don't have bolt heads that come through to the outside of the wheel. I'm assuming the wheel centers have the studs tapped directly into them.
I'd like to be able to do this myself, but don't know what to expect, and what exactly I would need. There's a seal on the seam where the rim halves come together, and I don't think it will survive disassembly. Also, I'm wondering what kind of sealant to use on the mating surfaces, and if there is a gasket between the rim halves that I would need to source. And, lastly, is it typical to re-use the mounting nuts that holds the rim halves togehter or are they a disposable item that I'll need to replace.
Thanks for any input on this, I'll be cross posting on a couple of forums here on R-list.

Can't answer all your questions, but I just had to replace the halves on a BBS wheel and they told me the bolts are a single use item, that when the wheel is loaded it stretches the bolts and once they're removed they shouldn't be reused.

Thanks everyone, great info.
I bought a race seat from Thatcher awhile back, great guy. That's a nice write up on Pelican. Just sent him an email.
The videos were outstanding, thanks for posting Gary.
