It was nice to meet you today, Dave! Thanks for stopping by and looking at my brake pads. Loving the 06's so far

Been there... done that...

Then I nailed that white cinder of a backing plate to the wall in the garage and made a little sign next to it:

"Don't do this ->"

It's a Boxster - doesn't really need brakes. The fact that you can turn good lap times with what must have amounted to no brakes means you are mastering the art of momentum driving.

PS I once ran out of brakes in one session and was in such a rush to repair the situation I forgot to check my fuel level before running out (on the track) in my next session - indicating BTW that I obviously did not look at my gauges for the whole time I was on the track. Don't feel bad - we all f..k up at some point.

Hope I'll be able to do the long haul to Mt Tremblant and hope you and Irene will be there. Heading off to VIR later in June for the Clubrace.

You don't have anything to be embarrassed about until this happens

Did you wreck? Did you damage any non- wear item part? Did you have to pack up and go home early?

Seems like you may not have done the best thing, but not realy all that bad....

Now a "bad bad thing" would be to have run a few more laps had brakes fail and take out 2-3 cars because of it...

I did that ~4 years ago with my 996 Koni car at a DE... Except I realized it coming into turn 1 at VIR when I couldn't slow enough for the turn and mowed the grass..

BTDT, went to every BMW shop in Elmira-Corning-Ithaca to find BMW 5-series pads for a near new, 1200-mile Ferrari Mondial t Coupe after I ran through a set of OEM pads at the 1990 FCA Annual Meet at the Glen. Found some and kept going!

Dave, this is a sign you're just using the brakes more and better now!

They wouldn't put backing plates on the pads if they didn't want you to use all the pad material.
