I did a bad bad thing
A few weeks ago my wife and I attended the HCR cups and saucers event at WGI which was simply fantastic. Great people, great weather and lots of track time. Between the two of us we put 850 miles on the Pawxster in 2 days!
In the last session I was really getting in the zone and turned four 2:10 laps and then a 2:09 at which point I decided that my needing to stand on the brake pedal to slow the car down was getting a bit dangerous.
When I came in I thought, 'gee, the front pads are really low.'
I took the pads out and realized I had taken them down to the backing plate. I am friggin embarrassed as hell and feel bad for the car. The pads were the first time I used the PFC 01 compound and it was a bit on the cold side during the event. They had only one other event on them at NHMS which is harder on the brakes. It is interesting that over the 2 days at WGI there really wasn't any fade to the braking until that very last session when the pedal needed a lot of travel to slow the car.
Anyhow, I'm embarrassed but here are the pics!

I can't tell you how many times back in the day (before trailers) I drove home from Watkins Glen with the backing plates tinkling off of the rotors.

OMG, I'm so relieved I'm not the only one who's done this. Phew.
At least I didn't run out of gas on the track.

They aren't even bent, so you weren't on them that long. Just an FYI - you're supposed to leave parts like that at the track and then it won't happen again. You'll find a set like that out of a 914 in the garages at a lot of tracks.

What did the rotors look like? My big black rotors are usually about halfway done when I run through a set of PF01s. I have heard that these pads are still good past half worn - I guess you proved it.

Toldya PFC's were good to the backing plate!
