Low registration numbers at Mosport PCA Club Race
Hi Guys,
How come the registration numbers are so low? The race is in less than 3 weeks... 42 registrant so far...
With that such numbers vs the PCA car classes, we'll all have our own win and trophy...
Damn, we need more folks here!!!

I think you will find that most racers sign up last minute as in last week to just days before race. SE MI chapter just completed its club race this past weekend, and only had 35 sign ups with less than two weeks to go, and we ended up with 60 total which is good number for us at Gingerman. A fun weekend for all, and only some rain Sunday morning that was good experience. No injuries and only one fairly bad crash with berm after losing it on course and damage is repairable. I'm sure the club race at Mosport will be great with good numbers.

Interesting, when the PCA national guys were at Road Atlanta, they said overall numbers were up.
Other than Sebring and WGI, it seems as though that may not really be the case.
Good luck on your attendance, I'd love to race up there. When I was a kid we used to camp there during F1.

This race is held 3 weeks earlier than in previous years and on the same weekend than The Summer Classic at Mont Tremblant where there is a IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge Canada race (Cup cars) and a GT Challenge race (944 and others from local area). Just bad timing IMO.
The registrations should increase in the next couple of weeks though as it always does for Mosport. Also, US drivers participating in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge series may register to have some track time there before their AMLS weekend July 19-22.

Is it looking like PCA has too many classes. That spreads the fields so thin if someone looks at the entrants for a race and sees only a couple of cars in their class they don't sign up unless it is their home race. Nobody wants to make a long tow for limited in class racing. On top of that, in low turnout races, there are only two groups - that means extreme speed differentials. Think Le Mans.
We are lucky we are not on the west coast. Have you looked at the turnout for their races?

Road Atlanta numbers have been way down. Mid Ohio has had to try a new date to attract more racers (fingers crossed). Mosport is apparantly hurting (again). VIR had to invite BMWs to join them. And so far there are only 40 people signed up for Putnam.

As an example: SP1. Nothing against them, and I understand that some may race Spec 944, but they were 4 at The Glen. There is a gentleman racing C stock/prepared. 1, alone.
Maybe that SP2 would be the ticket...
SP3: they were 8. Maybe that E should be a better place to have more competition...
Just saying...

Frankly, if PCA had no club races out here in California, I don't think many California racers would lose sleep over it.
