Austin F1 people pick local lady for run helicopter service to track
It look like a long haul and very tough getting in to see race. Hope was that we could just be dropped off with own charter or helicopter from father's friend. Not the case now which is not good. Getting in on two lane Texas cow road will take forever.

The article doesn't suggest you can't use your own helicopter -- it mentions
that you might have to coordinate with this or the other service mentioned.
Please double check -- or contact the business's listed.
I however will be stuck on the 2-laner with the rest of us unwashed masses.
I was hoping they would be running busses from the local malls (this is often the case
with large local music and other events) -- but it appears
that even the bus locations are a limited.

the problem with helicopters and sporting events is the distance between the landing pad and your hospitality suite. You have to arrange for a golf cart to pick you up (and that that often costs more than the rotary job, if you get my meaning)

At the last USGP at indie it was no big deal. You were under indie class b and the approach was VFR with a NOTAM for local traffic and a frequency for the event traffic. Once the pads are established at the track there may or may not be approach proceedures. You effectively landed in a fenced in area with a gate access to the track and security would check you both ways with your ticket. With the amount of team and sponsor traffic there was a ton of Helo traffic I think the "official" charter service is for the teams and officials, they bring a lot of stuff but not their helicopters to the US....

very often in Europe you have half a mile to negotiate between pad and your trackside base, if I drive I am usually closer than if I helo in......and at Le Mans it is terribly congested (though its fine to fly a lap of the circuit.
I think Europeans get antsy about folk having 'privileges', so trackside is not an option, yachting is different

Nor looking forward to access by car. Bus sound also very bad and I'm reading not much good planning. Want to see race but why this so difficult? Also some said that November can have ice there, true?
