Default Seat Adjustment

944 - I have the seat pulled forward as far as I can get it and I have to sit on the very edge of the seat to reach the clutch. I can shift, but it is not a safe position for driving. Suggestions please.

You should look into pedal blocks !Depending on how much length yuo need there premade blocks that are fancy boy racer looking that will give a small amount of added height to the pedal .Additionally you could check into moving the whole seat apparatus forward (I think iwe are talking 944 here right?) lastly you can make some pedal blocks out of wood and if you like just bolt them Rightthru the pedal. This can be done!

Or use a big cube of foam rubber in the seat.

I will be installing a Sparco seat, cage and harness (hopefully soon) - can the sliders have additional inches added to them? This car is a BLAST to drive, but safety FIRST

My guess is that you can move the whole slider apparatus ,and therefore the seat ,forward .I am envisioning a racecar at this point and airbags aren't an issue. If its not a racecar then your approach will have to be more careful and you are going to need some professional help which you probably have already .I am sure there are plenty of people here on Rennlist that have had to move a seat forward or back to improve their driving position.

Yes, it is a race car - almost everything is gone - EXCEPT the "GOOD" stuff

So, just unbolt the seat and slider and redrill new holes?

Karen, are you sure the seat isn't jamming in the tracks? A stock 944 seat should get pretty close to the wheel and pedals. Hop in the passenger side and see how far forward you can get that one to go.

The passenger seat is about 12 inches closer to the dash than the drivers side. I hear that the guy who raced it at Summit Point was pretty tall. Don't know if the seat was locked into place, but I can't get it to move

Power seat? Have you tried to move it with the Allen wrench on the seat motor? My old 88 944 would plaster me to the steering wheel.

Oh, thanks Raptor. I am doing what I can for ya!

Ahhh, well you are in luck. The switches burn out sometimes. If you look under the front of the seat there should be a plastic cover over the seat motor. Remove that cover, if its there. There will be an Allen bolt on top of the motor. It's the same size bolt as your seat rail bolts. Turn that motor bolt with the Allen tool and it should move front and back. It's not fast but should work.

Peice of 2x4 bolted to the clutch pedal is the way to go.
