Right here. I've been a few times and would love to go back. David Donner in an ex-GMG Cup to boot.

Look for times to tumble.

Last time I was there my dad was driving the family in a Country Squire wagon. Yeah... That was a thrill.

One of the best courses in the world. Just beautiful, too bad it's paved

There's some serious cars and teams getting involved now. Check out this little teaser of Seb Loeb and Rhys Millen in their respective (very fast) cars. Get the impression that the old school 'Peakers' might frown upon the full tarmac and Yuro-Peean involvement but you can't fight progress.

2:10-2:19 cracks me up. Pretty much sums up the difference between a factory backed team designing a car and a high end shop build.

I was talking with Al Unser Sr. A while back about the paving at Pikes Peak. He said that he loved the wonderful dirt drifting that they did there, but his biggest worry about the paving was safety. He did not feel at the speeds that would now be achieved that the course was safe for an off course event.
Add to that the lack of crowd control and the behavior of the crowd and he said he would not run it now if he was young enough to do so.

Don't forget Dumas in that grouping.

As for Unser's comments, I think there's some truth there. Pat Doran's car has been off twice this week and while he was going to withdraw versus repairing it a second time, the crew has been scrambling to get it back in order in time for the event.

Also, here's a little "teaser" from Zwart.

Betim at BBI built it on a GT2 engine. Significantly upgraded and a lot more power. It is mated to a custom rally set of my sequential gears and GT1 LSD. Unfortunately he got beat by the mountain. Drove into hail and freezing rain on the upper part of the course. Ran a low 10, but never had a chance at Dalienbach with the road conditions.

Seb Loeb is insane and so was his car. I have been lucky to see the man in action in WRC many years and it's amazing how natural it is for him to drive as a madmen around blind turns on slippery roads. It will take some serious competition to best his time...and he's a 'rookie'.
