Would be interesting to do a this poll for 'primarily racing' and 'primarily DE.'
Lots of gray hair at DE; fun when we get younger drivers (young often being early 40s).
I'm 61 going on irresponsible. Started when I was 44; yikes that hurts to type. Where the hell did those years go!?

I thought about making it more specific, ie Cup car drivers, racers or DE drivers but lets face it we are all out there so thought this would cover all of us on track

Another in the young crowd, though pretty soon I'll have been driving on the track for half my life!

I just turned 50 a month ago, though I look and act a heck of a lot younger than I am. I used to do DE track days before my local track closed 2 years ago. Now I race Karts instead, racing a 2-stroke Rotax DD2 Kart (got to love those Gs in the fast sweepers, it's my mini formula car). Anyway when I did DE track days there were some younger guys and gals showing up. There was a handful who came from rich families with fancy cars but most of the younger crowd showed up with modified Sleepers or Rice Rockets. However most of the DE track day people were middle aged driving nice cars with a couple of old guys also appearing. Karting is different. There are some guys who are older than me, but most of the Karting racers are either Kids, teenagers who started Karting as kids, young adults and a decent number of 30s and 40 year olds also racing. The best Kart racers are the young adults who have been racing since they were kids (those guys are fast), but I love watching the kids race. I swear most of them are better drivers than the majority of adults who drive on our public roads.

One of the few advantages of being older is having acquired means and unless one is exceptionally qualified, having enough money to burn for this hobby is not something a lot of twentysomethings are going to have.

One of the great things about this sport is its unifying ability. I have track buddies in their teens all the way into guys in their 70s.
