No change in his condition is reported, but this is the most detailed article I have read so far:

This is fresh off the press and his condition has improved but he's not out of the woods yet. Come on, Schumi!

I can see someone losing their balance on a steep slope while standing still, possibly trying to help someone else up (heck I even occasionally lost my balance and toppled over). But what a freak accident if someone had toppled over and hit their head on an adjacent rock. Sure it can happen, one out of a million times.

Still hanging in there, stable and no changes which is good. He's strong, I hope good news soon.

Awful, awful news. It doesn't take much to get seriously hurt skiing. Bad angles even at really slow speeds can result in death. Reminds me of Liam Neeson's wife Natasha Richardson in Quebec (died from head trauma on bunny hill), and of course Sonny Bono in Lake Tahoe (hit tree on top of hill right off ski lift).
We live in Park City full time so that we can ski. My son's primary goal in life is to make the US Ski Team, and at 12, he was clocked at 82mph in a SuperG race.... Normal speeds for racers of that age. Unlike car racing, the only real protection one has on the mountain is a thin helmet and perhaps some body armor if you choose that route. Preventing injury just comes down to minimizing risk using your brain coupled with massive amounts of luck.
I am devastated about this news of Schumi. My whole family is pulling for him. Hell of a racer.
My $.02,

Sad news indeed. Discussed case with a Neurosurgeon pal. Even if he makes it, he could have serious cognitive and motor deficits for life. My prayers go out to him and his loved ones.

There are guys that need a serious butt kicking in this world.
And from the looks of it there are others - the side bar on Phil on that same linked page. Another thread, another topic, another time. But the same.
Anyway c'mon Micheal. Got to do it now.
