Sebring Videos
Well this is interesting...
I have been loading some videos up on Vimeo from Sebring.
There is one, that I had not posted anywhere and only sent a link to two of my friends.
Just got an email from Vimeo that I had a new comment, so I open it up and...
Hi, Doug Crossman!
Scott Leder commented on your clip Sebring Squeeze:
“ Want a red carpet roll out, thats no squeeze
WTF
Scott,
Seriously dude, I'm the same guy that pointed you by on the last lap of the first sprint so you could have a chance at a win. That's how I roll.
Are you dick all of the time, or do you save it just for special occasions.
Here's the video
So anyway.....
Towed my trailer down to Sebring. I have a 2009 Ford F350 V10 and 28 foot enclosed trailer. My Dad came down with me and we got more than we bargained for.
Got caught in the Atlanta weather debacle on Tuesday night.
About 30 miles outside of Atlanta I75 was completely locked down.
I decided to try to head west and then south and bypass the traffic.
I drove for 2-2 1/2 hours. Roads were terrible, but I was taking my time and making good progress.
I had driven far enough south, that I thought it would be safe to start heading back east and try and get back onto I75 south of Atlanta.
I was on a two lane county road heading east. Got about 3-4 miles from I75 and started climbing a pretty decent hill. I was almost all the way to the top and started seeing a few cars in the road.
Had to stop just short of cresting the hill because of cars blocking the roadway. Now it gets interesting. The road was completely covered in a sheet of ice. Once stopped I started sliding down back down the hill...backwards...with a 28 ft trailer...with cars behind me. Sweet.
Slid about 50 yards. Trailer started to jack knife and ended up blocking the road. Manged to not hit any cars, ended up about 3 feet from one car behind me.
Got out to see what the hell was going on. Just past the crest of the hill on the other side was quite a scene. 30 to 40 cars scattered every where.
It was crazy. There were no police or any sort of "officials" controlling any aspect of the area, so the road was still "open". Locals spent a couple of hours dragging cars to the side of the road to make a narrow opening that small cars could make it through. Great...now I have to worry about cars sliding down the hill at me.
Worked for a couple of hours and managed to get the truck to the edge of the road. Got the right side tires onto the snow on the shoulder, I was then able to get enough traction to pull the trailer out of the middle of the road and get straightened out.
So, spent the night in the truck. Did not get much sleep. Spent about three hours watching a guy who came to get his wife who was stuck there get his 2wd Escalade stuck. He tried all night to get unstuck...never did.
In the morning a few squad cars showed up, said there were about 5 or 6 more areas just like this towards Atlanta. They showed up with some crazy *** SWAT vehicle and took some people stuck there to a church.
I knew that nobody could help us and the only way this mess was going to get cleaned up was after the ice melted. Took a walk down the hill. Only had one car to get around and I thought I could back it down the hill.
At the bottom of the hill was a driveway that I could use to back into and get turned around.
So I slowly backed out on the ice and it held. Started inching my way down the hill very slowly. Had to back down the hill about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile to the driveway.Once we made to the driveway and were off the road, my Dad and I were elated.
So headed out and made my way slowly down past Columbus, GA. Then head southeast to I75. Roads were still crappy, but traffic was light. South of Columbus the roads started getting better. Man was I happy to see some clear roads.
Some pics:
1. Dash view of where we spent the night
2.SWAT vehicle
3. Frozen/grubby truck and trailer
Did not get anymore pics of the "scene". It was so slick I wiped out about six times. Wasn't going back up the hill for some pics.

Red carpet would not have fit between you and the wall so I would call his bluff and say ......well...yeh
The wide angle cameras make it seem not as bad as when your in the car. I'll post mine later of something similar

Here are some from Orange and Black:
Fun Race
Sprint 1 and 2
Sprint 1 is very short. After the start it was just too boring. Sprint 2 is a disaster!
