I think some of those pictures show people trying to quickly push the rest of the Corvettes into that big hole. Yes, that statement was Porsche snobbish

As a Corvette guy, and with all due respect...

Between 1972 and 1986, all Corvettes fell into a sinkhole, so maybe this was simply an historical demonstration???
