Doug, I remember the 2011 race... My avatar is a pic of me going backwards before the chicane at the end of the straight during the rainy enduro.

Bummer. Last year was the same, lots of expensive P-car bodywork laying around the paddock.

Sorry to hear this. Hope everyone is OK. Road Atlanta is definitely a track with teeth because of all the concrete walls.

Think I will skip the Mitty as well and sit out until PCA Club Race at WGI at end of May.

If you're looking for track time, the Mitty ain't it...

And yes, the damage this year was greater than last year, a few even had trouble in the dry A Enduro today.

Surprising to me, compared to other racing and DE groups, the damaged sustained, given the very public stance the club leadership takes to try and avoid these outcomes.

Best thing for me was that my drivers got through unscathed. And chopped seconds off!

Hey Fred.
Long time, man. Miss seeing you at the track. Hope to see you out there again one day.

Yeah, that wasn't a good weekend for either of us.

I know but, any time is track time for me. Weather killed my plan at Sebring. Want to get some seat time on the car before NOLA.

Sorry to hear about the carnage.
My feeling is this .Why take an unnecessary risk .If its raining park it ! We are not doing this for a living .Just doesn’t seem worth the heart ache.
Do they call that risk management?

The real problem is not the wet track it self but how it changes rapidly with rain. I think the track was fairly predictable until big shower 5 -6 laps in to the race. Visibility became poor and nobody saw the stream at the bottom of the essess.

I am sorry. I disagree. The real problem was people out-driving their cars for the conditions of the track. Anyone who did not anticipate the stream at the bottom of the esses should take up another sport. It was only mentioned in EVERY drivers' meeting the stewards had, and it was only evident ALL day Friday...

True, you're talking about race 2B. That section from t3 to t5 and at and past black flag station (t9) is an absolute mess as water cascades across the track.

A deluge turns the track into an extreme hazard. Twenty years ago, before 10a and 10b, the Dip scared me the most I've ever been in a car when it hydroplaned with NO warning and I barely scraped the wall...

I've said my prayers every night since then...
