Visiting the Porsche Museum
Not sure which forum to post this in, but I've seen posts here from guys who've been to the museum, so will start here.
I'm traveling to Copenhagen for business next month and am thinking of making a side trip to Stuttgart/Zuffenhausen to visit the museum. Any recommendations for a reasonable hotel in the area? Just me, no wife or kids. Planning on two nights; fly in one day, spend the next at the museum and fly out the next.
An tips are appreciated.

Depends on if you are driving or looking for transport. Are you flying in to Stuttgart? If so that is south west of city and museum is north north-west edge of city. There is a nice Marriott at the airport, but a 30-min drive to the museum (paid parking underground at both). I have also stayed at Accor chain of hotels, 2 of which are near tram line in city that can easily access the Museum. Should try to get a factory tour too.
Enjoy!

i've stayed at the Graf Zeppelin twice. Pretty decent steakhouse in the museum as well. Christophorous, if it's still there.

don't forget your PCA membership card which gives you free entrance and 10% off all items in the gift shop. When I went there, my kids liked it initially but then got bored after 3 hours. So if you want to stay longer I'd recommend to go solo (unless wife and kids are die-hard Porsche fans)

Well, the train puts you right there so it's not like you have to stay in the immediate area.
However, our first time through in '99 we had my wife's 328i we'd picked up on Euro Delivery so we found this little, nice, inexpensive place that's basically walking distance:
Hotel Neuwirtshaus
Schwieberdinger Straße 198
70435 Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen
Germany

Then I got to thinking, and I'm pretty sure I saw a blurb on this place over by the MBZ Museum (which you should also fit in): http://www.v8hotel.de/

I stayed at the Hotel Adler Ottenbacher. Nice place, not far away. I had a rental car and it was an easy drive. If you're taking a cab, you might want to be closer.

Gentlemen - thank you for the valuable tips and info. It's going to be a quick in-and-out trip so I plan on staying near the airport. Will take the S-Bahn to Zuffenhausen as suggested.
I've contacted Porsche about a factory tour as well, great suggestion! I have all day on my own, no wife, coworkers etc so am planning a total Porsche orgy.

I was in Stuttgart for a weekend (just one night) and stayed at Hotel Wartburg - nothing special but clean room and good breakfast. It's near the main shopping street in center city and close enough to the Hbf for easy access to/from the airport, Porsche museum and MB museum.

Make sure to go across the city to the MB Museum and make reservations at Christophorus (the top of the Porsche Museum). It's a fabulous restaurant. In a day you should have time to do both museums and a tour of the Porsche factory.

Thanks - I think. I didn't realize the MB Museum was in Stuttgart. Now I'm going to have to figure out how to visit both!

i've been to both museums and the MB museum is REALLY good. it's much larger (obviously as they are much older) than the P museum.

Porsche museum was good, but the Mercedes museum is not to be missed IMHO. Porsche factory tour was fascinating. Our guide had clearly been selected for how she looked in a pair of size 0 pants, not for her encyclopedic knowledge of all things Porsche.
