Arm restraints
what arm restraints are you all using?
i have to use a set for the spec boxster. bought a set from simpson. uh, so miserable. was like haivng to wear a tuxedo on a nice summer day.
but mainly, wasnt sure how to really put them in place. seems like they should wiggle on over the metal clips at the end of the , for example, the hip belt. but it doesnt fit all the way over. should it, or just barefully covering the metal section that snaps into the center receiver piece.
basically what arm restraints are you guys using and how are you connecting them?

Steve,
I use the Racequip/Safequip ones. Metal end rings slide over the lap belt ends (I use the Schroth hybrid belts which makes this easier). Don't even notice they're on.

Never skimp on safety equipment. The restraints my crew use on me are very, very effective. I will find out the manufacturer, and post a link during my next competency hearing....

Simpson were the least invasive to me. They were also some of the lightest. If you have the opportunity when buying the suit I always recommend getting the ones built in. They never move around.
I disliked the ones that had actual metal clips to attach them to the belts and such. Simpson just have the webbing.
I wore mine above the elbow. Others wear them around the wrist. It's a torque v. hp debate for location in my experience.

Steve,
Wear them over your elbows or just below them. I prefer mine to be just a little looser so that they can slide a little on my arm. Make sure to adjust them so that you cannot raise your arms past the top of your helmet. Shouldn't feel them or have them get in the way.
You attach them as you buckle each lap belt to your center buckle.

Most folks wear them above the elbow towards the shoulder. They don't work that way...
My finger tips should not go above the top of my helmet when I check the tether length, like he said...
