Default Arizona Motorsports Park - AMP

Does any one know if a 991 GT3 will pass the decimal limit at AMP?

There is a Porsche DE day coming up and would rather not waste a morning only to find out I can't run. Thanks.

I highly doubt it.
A 997 GT3/3RS will not pass. A 997.2 GT3/3RS will not pass. However, a 996 GT3 will pass (if stock).
I had a 991 C2S with sport exhaust that would not pass! (it was actually slightly louder with the exhaust in normal mode!) Had to have my wife drive the Cayman out that day!
Even though the 991 GT3 sounds pretty tame, I imagine it's still louder than a standard C2S.

Only one way to know for sure. Bring it out & try. I'm sure it will be a big hit in any event!

94dB. Measured at 50 feet from the car.
A neighborhood a couple miles away where an obnoxious politician lives. (I know - obnoxious politician is redundant).

Looks like there is one 2014 GT3 on the entry list already. I guess we will find out 4 Oct one way or the other.

.....which is really ironic and doubly obnoxious since this great track is at the end of an Air Force runway.

is that the track that opened and almost immediately was closed a few years back? If so, didn't realize it had opened again

Yeah I don't get it. Must be the sun city residents complaining too. I remember a few years back when they were doing free sound checks they failed my evo at 94.2 because of loud intake noise.

That is (was) my plan.... Maybe someone else will figure it out for me.

I've been traveling a lot for work pulling me away from the fam. Our family friends planned a camping trip that weekend so the dad in me decided our family was going too. Fishing with my daughter is always a great time.

postponing first track day another month is disappointing, but the track will still be there.

I'd be happy to sound test it for you.

Why is there a sound limit? The owner/constructor lied on his conditional use permit. Yes, an adjacent developer took advantage.

I appreciate the kind offer... You were the first to offer, but probably not the last.

OP: PCA is pretty good about testing everyone out the am of the event if you don't already have an AMP clearance sticker. If you don't pass that they'll give you a refund. Pretty sure PA does the same.

I remember a few years ago I was in a students car when a F-16 was doing a a touch and go. I was so loud that for a half second I freaked out thinking there was something seriously wrong with the car. The sound check makes zero sense there.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but this is a subject that I'm interested in. I bought a 2009 Cayman S in December and one of the first things I did was upgrade the exhaust. I bought the car specifically to do sports car things. Weekend spirited drives, AX, and DE days, I am a PCA member. It seems that PCA AZ holds most of its track and AX events at AMP. So I downloaded a sound app for my iPhone and went out for an unscientific test. I did three test runs 1@96.4db 2@91.0db and 3@94.3db. This seems very inconsistent but lets me know I may be in trouble. In this thread, it's stated that AMP has a 94db limit. It looks like that's been upgraded to 96db. I plan to head out to the next track day event (AX 2-24-19) and see if I can run there.
So I have a question, where can I find other track and AX info/events that I could participate in aside from PCA in the AZ/Phoenix area?

One note, I'm new, I've never driven on a track or AX, but I really want to! I am signed up for the PCA track day on 2-9-19 at the Bondurant school, but it will be my wife driving. This whole sports car idea is a plan to get my wife into something she will want to do with me. The other sport that I've participated in for years is mountain biking, and my wife will have nothing to do with it. But we both like cars so you know, Porsche it had to be.

I dont believe the AX has to pass sound tech, a call to AZ PCA can verify.
NASA and Pro Auto Sports has non race driving groups you and your wife could possibly drive.
