Daytona!
A bucket list race for me. My company is having a 4 day conference in Orlando the Monday after the race. Kind of a fortuitous no-brainer to be there a few days earlier for the club race.
But where to stay? I've heard that a secure parking lot is kind of important there. But what do I know?
Safe, secure lodging for Daytona? The Marriot?
Open to suggestions.

The last time I went to Daytona I stayed at the Homewood Suites across the street from the track. The room was large, in great condition, clean, and affordable. The next time I go I will definately stay there again. Check out the reviews on this place.

I live in Port Orange/Daytona and the hotel suggestions are all good. There is also a new Holiday Inn off of LPGA blvd that is nice. Its about a 5-10 min drive from the track. Most everything near the track food wise is a chain just as an FYI. If you want a little break from Daytona you can stay in New Smyrna as it is a sleepy beach town with non-chain restaurants and a bunch of bars. As far as safety, not really a concern as the track has 24 hr security and Intl Speedway Blvd has drastically changed over the years. Much nicer than 5 years ago.

For one of the most memorable meals you'll ever have....period....

About 4 miles from the Speedway, 10-15 minutes. It's an absolute treasure.

From what someone told me, a consideration is a secure parking lot?

I can't speak authoritatively about this, but I do have a few data points. When I was there a couple of years ago It didn't seem risky. i also spent four years in the mid eighths living at the airport and the area was very safe(I went to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University). But I can't tell you what it is like now.

Daytona Lodging
I believe you'll find the the host hotel (Courtyards Marriott) rate of $99 in the Airport/Speedway area to be very competitive if not the best for that level of hotel. As for being secure, we've been doing the PCA race at Daytona since 2006 without incident.

You can priceline in to most of those same level hotels for about the same deal. Off season the beach hotels drop in price a good bit as well.

I was there raced in May for 1st time. Area no worse than any other track. I would have no probs at daytona. Stayed in daytona beach. Beach condos are hit and miss. Some beat down from college party kids some remodeled to be very nice. Just look at pictures before you rent. Im at daytona again for runoffs starting this weekend again and I am back at a nice place on the water about 10 to 15mins from the track, a tick over $600 for a 1 br condo 7 night stay.

For the Runoffs the First five nights I'm at Residence Inn right outside gate. Then I'm on the beach when family shows up. I wouldn't stay next to the airport and racetrack if I had family with me. At the beach, let them have some fun. It's all of 10 minutes away. I'm in the grey paddock T4 Miata #9. Stop by and say hi.
