Rennsport Reunion Onboard Video
A few laps onboard our 996 GT3R from the qualifying race in Group 6 (964/993/997, 962, rs spyder, etc). This was my first time at Laguna and I had a blast! The first couple of laps from the video were among my cleanest. Definitely more speed there, but it was not an environment I really wanted to push it too hard in! I was happy to break into the 1:31s (just barely).

Wow, great driving, first time there?!?!
I can ALMOST see a 996R passing a 500HP DP, car but a 600HP 962?!?!?!?!
That is one FAST 6, set up perfectly, and driven extremely well, you must have had a blast!

I spent 2 or 3 laps behind the DP, finally got through. He may have backed off a bit once I actually got next to him exiting 11.
One of the 962s was a Camel Lights car (the white/red one with center mounted rear wing), so naturally aspirated and *only* 350hp. I'm sure very light and it lept off corners, but was lacking on the top end down the straight. I eventually got by the Repsol car, which had BIG power. I think with more practice time and some clean laps all in a row I could get down to a 30.x or better.

Nice driving as usual Clay! Yeah you were on track with some pretty heavy hardware and really showed well. Not sure how the 962 would have felt getting passed by that NASA sticker on the door....
Good seeing you guys out there.

Awesome! Thanks for posting it.

Nice job, Clay... Only suggestion: a little less of the on and off throttle at apex and a tiny bit more patience will actually help reduce the under steer you're trying to address .

Thanks for all the kind words! It was a great experience.
It's just a go pro 4, open back case.
Thanks Dave. Astute observations as usual. Bad habit I'm trying to beat out of myself but my right foot won't cooperate! I kept getting into the cycle of feeling like I had overslowed for the corner, so wanted to pick up some maintenance throttle to keep from overslowing further, but that would wash out the front end, so I'd have to chop-chop-chop a couple times until I was really ready to go for it! The 6 throttle body motor has a very abrupt tip-in which really seems to upset the balance when you first get on the gas. Much more so than the single throttle body motors. I think I had a couple of good laps at corners at 4, 6 and 10, where I let the car rotate and then just buried the throttle in one smooth motion off the apex - but I wasn't able to consistently get it!
