Default Track fuel prices, ripoff?

I have not noticed any reduction in the price of 98 octane VP fuel at Sebring since the time when retail street fuel was at nearly $4.00 a gallon, now with street fuel under $2.00 would it not be reasonable to expect an adjustment at the track? What are other's seeing in their areas and tracks?

There is a solution, don't by fuel at the track.

May be a business opportunity in the area have not worked with skid tanks in a while but maybe the time has come to investigate.

It's a matter of "supply" and "demand". They have the "supply", so they can "demand" whatever they want.

One of my engine guys told me to always buy it at the track. He argued it will be less likely to be "old". He stated it is worth the premium. And this was for 93 octane. So I generally follow his advice. When you think about the cost of a rebuild, the up-charge on the fuel is modest. I don't know...just passing along what I have been told.

If you are running with a club, some tracks look at what other $$ are spent on gas, food, and supplies and factor that in when assigning track dates

Living in Southern California I feel your pain.

But I am reminded of a question:

What part of racing a Porsche is inexpensive? The racing part or the Porsche part? Out here there is a couple of stations selling 106 racing gas. At 2X of the retail price of super.

All good comments and I agree totally with "supply and demand" logic just never appreciate vendors who take advantage of racers, and as I said may open up a business opportunity "If you are not part of the solution you are part of he problem" another true piece of logic. We will see.

I think that's a bit strange. There are plenty of petrol stations that need to refill their tanks several times a week. I don't really think there is a problem.

But the same goes for a Miata, when filling it up at the track.
